UMKC 6 year BA/MD - class of 2011

i went on a tour of Drury. omg it is so beautiful. the admissions rep said that the premed program at drury has 100% acceptance to med school and they have a bunch of early admissions programs to many med schools. just thought i would let u guys know incase we have to take the traditional way.

I haven't read through all the questions on this forum...but if you have any questions you can email me at mst54c@umkc.edu.

so far it's definitely a new experience but that's to be said of anywhere I'd go. but anyway there you are. I'd love to answer questions, just email. cheers & good luck wherever you end up.

Can someone post Mizzou's website for the Conley Honors Program? thanx!

http://www.muhealth.org/~medicine/preadmission.shtml

thanks Tabi :) do u know how many spots there are in the Conley Program?
Also, how come Conley accepts SAT scores but UMKC doesn't for instate applicants?

Mizzou is a stronger school than umkc and most strong schools want a SAT score because you can't get really lucky on the SAT like you can the ACT. the act you can go through and pick A or B for every answer and get at least a 12, on the sat that could get you a negative number so the sat is more demanding. the college board also recommends the sat over the act.

i think mizzou offers like 10 conley scholarships, im not positive though. it should be somewhere on the site and if it's not you can email or call mizzou and they are really helpful. if i make a 30 im going to apply to both umkc and mizzou, maybe i can make it into one of the two.

this is not fair, the conley program should allow out of state students to join the program.

yeah totally!

wait there are only 10 spots for the whole program?!?! or are you just talking about scholarships to the program?
o, and that's weird that the sat is supposed to be used for stronger schools because i'm def. better at the SAT than the ACT... it's actually partly because the science section score pulls my composite down on the ACT... which isn't very helpful when your trying to apply to med programs!
o speaking of that, do you know how heavily UMKC looks at the science sectin of the ACT? if that's your lowest section score is that a big down side?

suprisingly they dont; they want to see the composite only. lucky for you and me, they wont see the science section unlesss they purposely break it down and review it.

the math section of the act is what always pulls my score down i score 30s in everything besides math and there i scored like a 23. that is not cool at all. i hope to do better saturday.
the only way to get into the pre med program at mizzou is through the scholarship and there are only 10 of those so it is very selective.

that's weird how ur math score is a 23 and everything else averages out to 30 cuz that's exactly the way I am... except my 23 is in science... :( I'm not fast enough~ I can never finish the passages- out of the questions I answer I get most of the correct, but I only get to 3/4 of the questions at the most! Any tips?
also, madame~ I thought when you ask ACT to send your scores they send the break down of the different sections, not just the composite, so doesn't that mean that UMKC would see all 4 of the subscores (Reading, English, Math, Science) in addition to the composite score?

i know but when you do the umkc app, they dont ask you to break the score down like other collegs apps.

our high school transcripts has our scores on them so they can see our individual scores, at least at my school.

How many of you guys are taking the ACT sat.? And those who are how are you going to inform UMKC if your scores are better?

I'm taking it sat. and I don't know how I'm going to inform UMKC... I was just gonna post that question too! I think I'm going to pay for the speedy deliver thing for the scores and if they're better, call ACT and have them send it... can you do that or do you have to fill out a form or something?

i just asked the same question guys and gals. here is the answer i guess

ok so i'm confused- how can you get your scores back early? And for umkc are we required to take the writing section also?

i dont know, im taking the writing one. i think we can get back the score early by paying 8 bucks. can someone ask umkc if they accept the act score even past the deadline.

no, I'm pretty sure UMKC doesn't require the writing section. I didn't know it would take that much longer to get the scores in though if you did take writing ... I shouldn't have signed up for writing!! ughh.. oh, and like madame said if someone finds out if umkc accepts the act scores after Nov. 15 (or if you have to send in the score you already have and then can update it after the deadline) post it here!! also, does anyone know if the application deadline is for the application to be received on 15th or postmarked by the 15th??? please post! thanks!
