@pursuittoexcel there’s definitely more of a willingness to share and collaborate with these programs to a great extent because of how no one really knows much more than that we need to have good scores for them. Its kind of nicer actually.
does anyone else feel like they have ridiculous amounts of work senior year? I cancelled all my plans for this weekend to stay home and study and write essays…
Unfortunately the workload doesn’t cease to exist in college, despite being in a medical program.
Enjoy senior year! The interviews will be pretty exciting-- You get to see a bunch of new cities. Also, you have that relaxing summer to look forward to.
Greensage, will be worse once interviews start if you have a bunch of AP’s in your senior load. But… you will get over it…will be hard for 6 weeks and then the catch up
That’s all very true. I feel the interview time wont be too bad because most of the colleges are anywhere between 1-3 hours away from where I live (umkc being the exception). The interviews have kinda started for me. I did a couple for undergrad and i have one at NJIT next week! Very excited for this one
So as a current first year in the UMKC 6 year program I just want to clarify one very important thing. STATS ARE NOT EVERYTHING! UMKC looks at an applicant as a whole, not just the numbers. Don’t compare stats or ec’s, just submit the best application you can and be genuine. It is imperative that you guys do really well during your interview because that is what they will focus on and the numbers won’t matter as much. I’m studying for finals at the moment, but if you have any questions feel free to send me a message and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
@UMKC6yearHelp
Regarding the interview, how did that go? Is it really challenging, like what type of questions are they? Personality or intellectual based where you need to have some background with medical experiences etc.
Thanks!
@Peach95: The early interview notification is not only for in-state students. I received that notice a couple of weeks ago and I am out of state.
@GreenSage: I thought we were already supposed to receive our undergrad notifications? I was sent that over a month ago… I’m confused. Did you mean interview notification?
@PursuitTo Excel, agree. My son got his UG acceptance back in October, but without any scholarship award. He also got the email notification of early interview notification a few weeks ago. We will just have to see if the notifications of decision for interview actually are extended to out-of-state applicants or not. We are out-of-state.
@IMGDAD: Did you get a letter in the mail regarding early notification status? It says specifically in the letter that you will be notified of an interview (or not) by mid-december. I was unsure of this as well at first so I called and asked UMKC directly and they told me that anyone who met the early notification deadline will be notified by mid-december. Also, I am aware that there are very few, if any, scholarships granted from UMKC to out-of-state students.
@PursuitToExcel: the early notification letter was sent by email to my son and it specifically said that the decision on interview (invitation; denial; or waitlist) will be communicated electronically before mid-Dec since my son’s “application was completed before October 15” (IN BOLD).
@PursuitToExcel: Did you applying by October 15th? I couldn’t so I had submitted my complete app by the Nov. 1st deadline. Was it a hard copy in the mail or online/email? I know the interview notifications for those who applied by oct. 15th should be coming in around now. I’ll just find out a bit later than you guys about the interview (around new year’s perhaps?)
@GreenSage: Actually we won’t be receiving our notifications until about mid-December. If you applied by November first then you’ll find out sometime in January. I was sent a letter in the mail and notified electronically.
From what I hear about UMKC’s interview process, I know they take it very seriously. But I honestly think that’s a good thing because they make a good effort to try to get to know the candidates. However, the first big task is getting an interview I would say.
