Where did your merit award show up?

You applied on Oct 27 and received a decision on Nov 1?

Are people starting to receive EA decisions? Does anyone know if they make decisions on a rolling basis or do they wait to send notifications out on a certain date?

It seems a bit random, D22 applied on 10/19 and received her acceptance on 12/20. The portal mentioned that she qualified for early admission and will hear back by end of Jan but received it a month early. Some members posted that they received admission decision within a few days after applying.

Does anyone know when EA1 financial aid info is released?

So I went back and checked son’s timeline

Submitted via Common app 24 OCT
School email instructing him to complete the Self-Reported Academic Record on 27 OCT (Completed that day)
School email application complete on 28 OCT
Portal showed acceptance letter on 1 Nov.

They don’t release FA packages until April-ish, no matter what round you applied. Scholarships are sent on a rolling basis.

For those of you who are already accepted, did you submit essays? Just wondering if it’s truly optional.

Submitted 1 only. Must be optional.

Thank you for the info!

My D submitted all essays since she went test optional. It is easier for AOs to come to a decision if they have more to evaluate you with.

Yes, my son had one personal essay about himself (essay 1) that he put a lot of time into. It did not mention any school or major so he used it for basically all colleges he applied to unless they deviated from that and had a school specific essay. So it cost him nothing to submit to Minnesota. He put in time on his Michigan (reach) essays. He put something in all essays for all schools he applied, whether it was a cut and paste job from other school’s required essay or scratch. He left no essay/short answer empty. Hated every minute of it

That said for the schools he was accepted to, it was more about GPA/Rank/SAT score and less about the essays.
