****UMTC Fall 2016 Applications/Admissions Thread****

@bwalts61 Financial aid notification is in March, I think. Your MyU account has a link to your Fin. Aid. page so you will see it there first, before receiving the letter in the regular mail.

@JBStillFlying How do get around the “Agreement” to view MyU

@uofmmom
34 ACT single sitting
3.98 uw GPA
~7/278 rank
10 APs by the end of senior year (5 on Bio may have helped?)
Not many awards or ECs - NMSQT commended, NHS, academic letter, varsity XC&track, math league, key club, ~300 volunteer hours, dressage riding
MN resident

I’ve never checked online, but I got the letter yesterday and it was dated Jan 5

Good luck to your daughter!

@bwalts61 D17 hasn’t logged onto anything except the Tracker so not sure what Agreement you are referring to. Is it something about needing to be enrolled?

Thanks @LaikaDoodles. She has 33 ACT and 3.88 UW GPA and is ranked 18/471. She has about 10 AP classes too. I’m hoping she gets in to Honors.

@uofmmom I just checked my tracker and it states:
“Your Honors admission letter has been mailed.”
I’m assuming this was updated within the last week, but I’m not sure if everyone is notified at the same time.
Keep us updated!

@LaikaDoodles - Where does that quote show up? I cannot see any differences on the portal since being accepted.

@jpc763
I saw it in Application Tracker under Status of your application as of: January 12, 2017
It reads as follows:

Please note: This is the most up-to-date information available to our staff.
Congratulations! We are very pleased to notify you that you have been selected for admission to the University of Minnesota College of Biological Sciences. Admission to the University and our freshman-admitting colleges is determined by a holistic review of each individual student’s application materials, including the student’s college(s) of interest. We consider students for admission to their college(s) of interest, in the order students have indicated, and take into account in our admission review a student’s interests and academic preparation. Please note that your official admission packet is on its way to you in the mail. To confirm your enrollment now, click here. We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Minnesota community.

Congratulations! You have been admitted to the prestigious University Honors Program! Your Honors admission letter has been mailed.

@LaikaDoodles - Thank you. I only see the first paragraph at this point.

My daughter’s Tracker changed the same way to add that last paragraph about honors.

@JBStillFlying At CBS?

@LaikaDoodles no she applied to and was accepted at Carlson. But the wording about honors will be probably be the same at the bottom of the tracker, even if the qualifications vary by college. It’s the same Admissions dept. for all the colleges :slight_smile:

I applied ion Nov 1 and still haven’t heard anything from the U is that normal? I am a asian. First generation to go to college in my family. A ELL student. I am taking 4 AP classes this year and one CIS class and a couple honors. I am in Chinese Honor National society. My ACT is below average. I work for my parents. What are my chances getting accepted to the U?

@bunny329 I applied in August and haven’t heard anything

Finally got my D17’s Scholarship letter. She got the National Scholarship for $10,000. Phew! Now just hoping she makes it into Honors.

@uofmmom there is another thread about scholarships and stats, if you would be able to post info. there as well, that would be very helpful to those still waiting:

Judging by the lack of decisions posted recently, do you think they are withholding results until the 31st?

@jh1868 that is what I am thinking

I wonder if a lot of what is left are now waitlisted people? Applied in July to CSOM with CEHD as 2nd choice, no word as of yet but a few of my son’s classmates accepted to Carlson already.

There were people last year who were accepted late January.
