****UMTC Fall 2016 Applications/Admissions Thread****

@JBStillFlying - yes he wants to be in marching band so that’s great to hear, thanks.

I got accepted to Carlson on 10/24, applied 8/1 and had all my transcript and materials sent in by 10/10. 3.72 UW/ 4.8 W GPA, 33 ACT

Forgot to post this. Oct. 27, the official honor program letter was received. Interesting it says Middlebrook honor residency is guaranteed as long as I confirm before May 1.

I was accepted to the College of Liberal Arts about a month ago and have not yet received an honors confirmation. Can those accepted to honors post their stats. Also does anyone have any information about when scholarship info comes back.

Basic Stats:
4.0
34 Composite ACT
tons of service work
president of school’s Diversity Club and Science Club

Thanks!

@AppInventor I was accepted into Honors (CSE) two weeks ago with a 36 ACT, 4.0 GPA, and minimal ECs. To me, it looks like you should have no problem at all getting into the Honors program. On the website, it says that scholarship information will be sent out by the end of February but I know that in previous years, some applicants have received offers as early as December.

@AppInventor here is the breakdown by college based on most current stats:

https://admissions.tc.umn.edu/honors/review.html

Is that 4.0 weighted or uw? If uw then it’s just a matter of time. Be sure to check your tracker because it updates there first.

Scholarship info tends to come out later - December or thereabouts is my recollection. Not sure if that’s changing with the new deadlines.

My son, who was accepted into CSE two weeks ago, was admitted to the honor program today.

Ditto for my D in CBS. She noticed the Honors admittance today in the portal. May have missed it before, but I think it probably just appeared.

@Jess80808 - My son had basically the same stats and received his honors (CSE) postal mail letter earlier this week. He received his acceptance packet a few weeks ago in the mail. Not sure when it appeared online. He’s hoping for merit aid offers before the regular admissions deadline of other schools where he may apply. The national scholarship for in-state tuition would be great, as I understand out-of-state tuition is getting a huge hike in the next few years.

Just checked. I was Accepted! Applied October 18th and was accepted to college of liberal arts. 31 act.

Will they send something in the mail or no?

Yes - an acceptance packet will arrive probably in a couple of weeks.

I am a bit surprised. My S has a 3.886 UW/4.0 W GPA, 32 ACT, 27/402 rank and lots of EC. He applied undeclared into CSE and CLA on 10/6.

No update on his status yet.

Got accepted yesterday into CBS!

30 ACT
3.61 UW GPA

@jpc736 most likely just a matter of time. MN resident or WI or ?

@JBStillFlying - Colorado resident so OOS. Only thing I can think is that his ACT writing is 7 on the new 2-12 scale. Oh well, continue to wait!

They don’t look at the writing. Hang in there!

@ptfood are you in-state or out-of-state?

@MerryLee in-state

@JBStillFlying My son receive a scholarship postal mail. The 10k/year Gold Scholar Award is conditional – the student must become a National Merit Finalist. I was wondering if any of National Merit Semifinalists received about 15K/year that did not include Gold Scholar Award. Thanks!
