Quick question, on the utexas.edu course registration page, it says I am unable to join classes even though the website says they're waitlisted. This has happened for several classes I have joined.

Anyone know why they're listed as waitlisted classes but are unavailable to be joined?

^That’s not one of the registration options.

There’s ADD, DROP, DROP (certain class) IF ADMITTED TO (another certain class), but no add to waitlist.

I’ve joined other waitlists before, and you simply have to use the ADD option and it says it placed you on the waitlist, but for some reason some specific classes don’t work.

Some classes may not have a waitlist, or the waitlist may already be full. If the status of the class is closed, then one of those 2 conditions apply. If it says waitlist in the status, then you should be able to add your name to it, unless it’s being restricted by major or perhaps spots are being held until mid July when a lot of the classes deemed “freshman” level are opened up for non-Freshman.

That has never worked for me. I had to, like Xcellerator said, select “ADD to waitlist and (if desired) SWAP if added to class” again to join the waitlist. Check your options again. It would tell you if you do meet the requirements if it was restricted to a different department. If it said waitlisted;restricted then you will be able to join the waitlist. The limit is 5 wait lists or something so you may be on too many?
