Yes, I do, send it to me.
I am submitting my transfer application on the 10th. I got a TA to write my rec/revise my essays and that’s when he will be done. I’ve already submitted all transcripts, test scores, etc. and UNC makes the transfer app pretty easy by not requesting other forms. Not sure about you guys but I feel a lot better / a lot different applying as a transfer then in highschool. Just a certain “what is meant to be will be” mentality. Really refreshing!!
Also, for the optional activity explanation part, I just chose a club that I’ve really loved this year and went into further detail, then explained how I’d love to start a chapter of the club at UNC (if given opportunity) is that worthwhile to submit for optional part? Going back and forth between including it or just leaving it out. Any opinions appreciated
@NerdyNinja80 I think you have a really good chance. Are you in state or OOS?
@lamppostUNC Thanks, man and I’m in state I’m currently at a community college
Hey man, I’m also an NC community college student. Good luck in April. I’d say you have a good chance, especially as a junior applicant. @NerdyNinja80
I was hoping to get some opinions on my chances!
I am from Connecticut (so out-of-state) and currently attend the University of South Carolina, Columbia. I am currently in my fourth semester at the university and have done well. My major is Public Health, and I’m looking to major in Health Policy and Management at UNC. I hope to one day practice as a Physician Assistant. The courses I have taken at USC include all of the basic biology and chemistry classes, psychology courses, sociology, calculus, public health classes, English classes, etc. I also think that I will qualify for the Carolina Covenant due to my mother’s low income (my parents are divorced and she is my primary guardian).
College GPA: 4.0 cumulative
I will have 60 credits at the end of this semester. Unfortunately, I know that one of these classes will not transfer, so I had to apply as a sophomore transfer, not a junior. I hope this does not hurt my chances.
High school GPA: 3.7 (did not do well my first two years, but my GPA was a 3.9 and a 4.0 my junior and senior years)
my high school was very competitive and is known for its very difficult curriculum
SAT: 1200 (old version)
College Information:
-Member of the Public Health Society
-Floor Representative for my residence hall
-A member of CHAARG (a club that aims to get college-aged women excited about living a healthy lifestyle)
-A member of the USC Love Your Melon Campus Crew
High School:
-Captain of my high school mock trial team
-Awarded the most outstanding attorney award in the mock trial program
-Captain of the empire mock trial team (more competitive, competes nationally)
-President of the Red Cross Club
-Played softball
Outside of the classroom:
-Work 30 hours a week on breaks at a local medical office as a medical assistant
-Work and Volunteer at a local preschool/daycare center
I had my Public Health professor write my letter of recommendation, which should look good because she is a very impressive woman. She has a masters in public health from Columbia University. Last semester, I faced serious health problems that prevented me from attending my classes for more than half of the semester. Instead of taking a medical withdrawal, I completed all of my coursework from my apartment. I managed to complete the semester maintaining my 4.0 GPA while taking 5 classes. My final grade in my public health class was a 100%, so the letter should be good. The struggles I faced last semester are detailed in my personal essay.
Let me know what you guys think!
Does what major you apply for affect your chances of getting into UNC? Like are there certain majors that are easier to be admitted as a transfer student to than others? If so which ones?
Yes definitely. Computer Science for example would be harder than psychology. Essentially the majors with a higher salary are the ones that are more competitive.
No, the major you apply will not affect your chance of getting in, however, I think they can accept you to the school but not directly to the professional school. I am pretty sure that the major you apply will not affect during the admissions process!
What is the email for UNC that you send your transcript too?
You have to tell your college/university to send it.
I used CFNC to send my high school transcript and my college mailed my college transcript to the mailing address for UNC Office of Admissions. I’m not sure whether or not email would work. If for whatever reason it wouldn’t work, see if your school will let you do a transcript request and they can mail it to UNC for you. @aflacduck13
I just submitted my app this morning, when should I expect to get my login info? Within 48 hours?
I got the email telling me how to establish a UNC guest ID a little over 48 hours after I submitted the app. You’ll use your UNC guest ID to log in to Connect Carolina. @nduclaunc
Thank you!! I remember that part from applying in highschool. Just wanting to sure
Make* sure
Thoughts on reapplying to UNC. Was accepted to the Class of 2021, however chose to go to Vanderbilt. Reapplying to transfer as a sophomore for the fall?
why do you want to transfer out Vandy?
Honestly, the school is a little too small and doesn’t have all the options of classes and extracurriculars that a larger school like UNC has.
