Yes, I got the email. And you’re right, in the past 3 years, decisions come out the day after we get the email. I expect decisions to be out tomorrow late afternoon/early evening. @lamppostUNC
Ahh this wait is killing me I wish they gave a specific date for decisions o know a lot of schools do that
The opening sentence of the email reads like a rejection. Was shook for like a split second, it’s been such a wild ride lmao :((
Where will you all be going if things do not go as planned tomorrow? My back up is Clemson!
I will be going to App State if I am not accepted tomorrow. Got accepted to App a few months back and have been waiting to hear from UNC first. UNC is my #1 of course.
Either N.C. State or App State. Still unsure since I’m a social sciences major and am debating if N.C. State should even be a choice for me.
@HSstudentNC App State is a wonderful school! Boone is a pretty cool place as well
I got the email about transfer decisions half an hour ago and am crossing my fingers for them to come or tomorrow. Good luck everyone
Either NCSU or UNC for computer science. I haven’t decided on which one to choose yet. My current school is Clemson.
@electrobricks wow, I’d actually be going to Clemson for CS if I don’t get into UNC. What made you want to transfer out of Clemson?
@nohrdragon I have family in Raleigh that I miss dearly. Never staying for more than 5 years in a state makes family extremely important (and a good essay!). Also, Clemson never really fit me. I love to do things but Clemson doesn’t have much (except for football).
I will say that Clemson is a good school for computer science. Dr. Dean is a legend in the school (hails from MIT). Anyways, I would look at Clemson’s subreddit for more opinions on the program.
@electrobricks If I get accepted to UNC I might double major for CS. How has your CS coursework been thus far at Clemson?
@AwakenMyLove As I mentioned previously, Dr. Dean is an amazing professor and has a extremely challenging but productive class (26/100 average for his exams). (He runs coding competitions for high schools, international Olympiads etc.) When Google is on campus, they love to attend his class.
Besides him, I’ve just had mostly good professors. So far it has been pretty boring since none of my current coursework is new to me except for my assembly class (which is taught by a terrible teacher that is retiring). In summary, I think they have a good not great program. But then, you don’t become a computer scientist from only classes: you become one through working outside the class.
@electrobricks It sounds like you’ve had a pretty positive experience at Clemson. What careers are you looking at? The main reasons why I’m considering to double major in CS is due to interest, and because, well, having a formal education in CS will definitely be relevant in the field I’m considering.
@AwakenMyLove I am heavily considering the field of AI/analytics. I’ve been lucky enough to be involved in some projects involving those systems here at Clemson. It’s really interesting to me.
What field are you looking at?
Assuming we get in, can we register as soon as we accept? That seems strange to me as we’d then get to register before rising sophomores that already attend UNC
@electrobricks Currently looking at chemical/materials engineering. It would be awesome to work in the automotive/aerospace industry.
AI is so dope. Artificial neural networks and deep learning is what really got me into researching CS.
@bgtyhnmjuiko check this site for more information on that https://studentsuccess.unc.edu/first-steps/
I have a couple of questions, I’d really appreciate feedback/answers:
First of all, the business school apparently doesn’t accept transfers directly. Therefore, if I am accepted, I will have to attend the normal college first. Does anyone know, if they offer guaranteed admission to the business program? Or do I have to pray that once I am in UNC that I can transfer to business?
I only have a 1290 SAT super-score, which is almost 100 points below the average. The only reason that I submitted the score was because I accidentally said that I am a sophomore transfer, even though I have enough to be a Junior. Had I applied as a Junior, then I wouldn’t have had to submit it. Do you guys think that they are going to consider that score? Would it be bad? I have a 4.00 with 47 credits + 15 in progress.
When does registration open? Can we and should we register right away? How do we even know what classes we should take? I need some guidance with this and I don’t want to be left behind.
