Well I can’t add myself until next business day apparently so I have to wait until Monday lol I’m dumb didn’t read the instructions
How many people haven’t gotten their financial aid or transfer credit report? I haven’t gotten either yet even though I no longer have any financial aid to-do items. Should I be worried?
I got my transfer credit report but no email about it. And I noticed most of my gen eds aren’t showing in the Tar Heel Tracker as satisfying core requirements. Like my freshman comp class isn’t showing as satisfying english comp. Has anyone else looked at their Tar Heel Tracker and seen similar issues?
i heard it’s difficult to get transfer credit for unc’s english comp bc of its requirements @butfirstcoffee
I haven’t gotten my financial aid or my transfer credit report yet and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Hopefully they’ll be up next week @alliezannino
Hey guys, so some of the classes that I select make me select another one. What exactly is the second one? So like there is ECON: INTRO (Lecture) and then it makes me choose ECON: INTRO (Recitation). Also, one of the classes that I need to take (Econ 410) has many free spaces, but the second class is closed. Does that mean I can’t get into the class?
I have a similar problem with BIOL 101 and 101L. The class had vacant seats but the lab (science equivalent to recitation) is full. But the thing is, I need the lab and the lecture credits. I’m talking to an advisor on Monday to get it sorted out.
@HSstudentNC Got it. So what is recitation though?
From the UNC advising site: “A recitation section is a required small group discussion section connected to a large lecture course. Its purpose is to provide students with an opportunity to ask questions and further explore topics from the lecture. Attendance in recitations is required.” @Vincent1997
@Vincent1997 I had to pick a recitation when I enrolled in Econ 101. I still have to take statistics before I can take 400. Can you take 410 at the same time as 101?
@AwkwardNewYorker The things is that I don’t know how my credits will transfer. I was trying to sign up for both just in case. I have taken micro-economics and macro-economics. However, I guess that those will be seen as introductory and not intermediate micro. I am really just shooting in the dark right now.
@HSstudentNC I couldn’t find that information anywhere lol good thing I got you
Has anyone else not been assigned an advisor yet?
According to the people I talked to, you won’t be assigned an advisor until classes start.
@Vincent1997 My econ micro and macro credits did not automatically transfer because I took them as separate classes, whereas UNC combines the two classes into econ 101 . If your credits don’t transfer automatically as econ 101, submit a transfer credit re evaluation form through connectcarolina, or speak to an advisor. Definitely don’t make the same mistake I did by taking econ 101 again when I could have gotten transfer credit. You’re fine with ECON 410 in your schedule as you most likely would not have taken that previously. Also, remember that the B school allows for you to have one prereq left during your application, so even if you don’t get into 410 right now, you’re still okay.
Let me know if you have any more questions
@Wilmarie But don’t I have to complete the prerequisite by the time of starting in the business school? So I’d need to take it in fall, if I want to enter the B school in Spring.
Just got my transfer credit report. Not what I was expecting but it could’ve been worse. Will have to go another semester
How do I add myself to the Sakai site?
@BryantB02 You need to get with advising ASAP. Are you out of State or in State? 1 extra semester will cost you an extra $9,000 approximately if your instate. Once you hit your max federal loans students cannot borrow anymore. If your parents are paying then that’s different story. Did you put in the transfer revaluation form for the ones they are not accepting? What school are you coming from?
Juniors, if you are having trouble reaching the 12 credit hour minimum for full time enrollment, I would recommend you take EDUC 301-Thriving Junior Transfer Seminar. It is 3 credit hours and the class will only have junior transfers. It satisfies 1 out of 3 courses required in the Supplemental Education requirement. An advisor I spoke to said it is a beneficial class for transitioning and tends to contain less heavy coursework than other classes.
