UNC Chapel Hill EA Applicants 2018

My hopes have now been crushed.

Is this a sick joke ugh I can’t wait another week!

I wouldn’t despair-- everyone has been saying the 24th or 31st, but maybe it’s released earlier than Friday next week! thats my hope

No decisions this week

Dammit

“Thank you to all of our Early Action applicants who have waited so patiently while we complete our review of your applications. This work is still underway, and unfortunately, we do not plan on releasing decisions this week.”

Yep. Darn. I’ll be heading off on my cruise having no idea of whether I got in. Oh well!

same here @barbecuelife!

Any chance that they’re just saying they don’t plan to release them just so not that many people look and crash the website? They never specifically said they won’t be released this week. Only that they don’t plan to.

Doubt it. Looks like we’ll be waiting another week. Ugh!

I am not impressed with Carolina. Not one bit.

I agree with others on here. I think they are just saying that to keep the site from crashing. The blog still says by the 31st, so that leaves the window wide open to hear before then. We will keep checking!!!

While I realize that it’s very hard to wait for something that you want to know really badly, I also think it’s important to keep in mind that the job of a college admissions counselor, especially in a public university, is grueling. The most recent statistics from the National Association for College Admissions Counseling indicates that, on average, each college admissions counselor at a public university is responsible for reading (and re-reading) over 1200 applications. During admissions “season,” they often work 16-20 hour days, and their average salary is $35,000.

I empathize with everyone waiting to hear (my daughter included), but I think they’re doing the best they can to give everyone’s application a complete and a fair review and make the best decisions they can make considering they received over 17,000 EA applications according to their website.

I’m not a college admissions officer (nor would I want to be one looking at these statistics). The only reason I have these figures is because my daughter had to do some research and part of that research was reviewing the NACAC annual report on the State of College Admissions. So as we all wait, I thought I’d share what she discovered to put some perspective on the waiting.

@copticbishoy, I’m not impressed either.

I think that if decisions aren’t released this friday, it most likely won’t be til next Friday. Large universities tend to wait until the end of the workday at the end of the week when traffic on websites like Connect Carolina is lowest. I’m still hoping for this Friday!

I’m really not impressed either. The deadline was October 21st… Super prestigious EA or REA schools with deadlines all the way up to November 20th released decisions weeks ago.

honestly, i’m just as frustrated, but i think it’s just the way things are at this point. we all applied. we’re all submissive to them. it’s UNCCH! they can do what they want, regardless of our complaints

That’s true @hopmayer. I love the school, so if I get in, I’ll probably go there, regardless of how long it took them to release decisions. I mean, almost 17,000 applications? That’s a ton! I’m just going to remind myself that my application has probably already been reviewed and decided upon, and there’s nothing I can do but wait patiently. Best of luck to all of you!

Does anyone take the fact that instructions weren’t released today as a sign that admissions decisions won’t be available this Friday?

They says that decisions will not be this week…

They did?? :(

@Cbatarseh
