lol everyone on here makes me feel extremely inadequate sometimes. it’ll be amazing if i get in out of state

Did anybody else see the “this is an outrage” comment on the latest blog post. All I could think was “oh snap”

LOL thanks I seriously thought I had zero chance since my SAT composite is only a 2020. Also, I forgot to mention that I placed 2nd in the state of Florida in weightlifting which I worked very hard towards considering I started as a 95 lb. Indian kid. Lmao

no i did not see that comment. Where was this?

"This is an outrage. Carolina has one if the earliest early action deadlines of all schools, and it still fails to give their decisions in a timely fashion! Shame on you! Institutions with many more applicants are able to have later deadlines and earlier notifications. This will leave an awful taste in all applicants mouths, especially when WE have to make our decisions on our home for the next four years. Start doing your job!

Sincerely,
All applicants"

Hahah I mean dang, I’m frustrated too, but it’s not exactly what I’d call an outrage.

The EA decision deadline is January 31 - it is the published deadline - and as far as I can tell, the only deadline given. Many of you sound like ungrateful, spoiled, small children. As a parent, I’m extremely anxious too - but the deadline was given from the get go. Maybe Carolina isn’t the best choice for some of you, regardless of your acceptance.

@mtbprotracy… You do realize that the quoted piece above is from the Carolina admissions blog? None of us posted that… “Spoiled, small children” is a little uncalled for.

@mtnprotracy, As far as I can tell, there is no date or time yet announced for when decisions will be released, which is part of the reason many of us are so annoyed.

Exactly. @collegebound1000

“This will leave an awful taste in all applicants mouths, especially when WE have to make our decisions on our home for the next four years.”

UNC could kick me in the face and steal my girlfriend, and I’d still go. Being in state with mediocre grades and no money…

Both UNC and NC State posted their expected EA decision announcement dates last Fall. Keep in mind these are state schools and have been squeezed by state budget cuts. Only school decisions we received in December were from upper tier private universities, likely with smaller application pools.

Hahah @illiriks your comment made me laugh. It’s so true, and I think all of us would truly wait as long as it took to get a decision letter from such a fantastic school. We’re not ungrateful, just anxious as all get-out.

Do you think there’s any chance of them releasing decisions on a day other than next Friday? Like, could they release them earlier in the week or do you think we have to wait until 1/31?

“There will be an outage affecting ConnectCarolina and other systems on Thursday, Jan. 23, beginning at 5:00pm and ending at approximately 2:00am as part of the Spring census (the official University enrollment reporting). All faculty and staff are requested to please log out of ConnectCarolina by 5:00pm on Jan. 23. Students will NOT be able to use ConnectCarolina for all functions during this time.”

Doesnt that mean that the decisions are being released?

^ no, it means that the 22nd is the last day for all UNC students to drop a course using the web registration system and the last day for schools/departments to add or drop a course for students. The 22nd is also the Official University Enrollment Reporting Date. ConnectCarolina, and other systems, are updated with that finalized course enrollment data on the 23rd.

Last year the email on how to check your decision online came out on Wed., Jan. 23rd and the decisions were available 2 days later on Fri., Jan. 25th around 5 PM ish. Based on last year, since they haven’t sent that email yet, I’m inclined to believe that the decisions won’t be posted until next week, most likely Friday since they seem to wait until the end of the week to post.

@illiricks, that made me laugh. It’s so true. I so want to know really badly, but they could make me wait until the day before fall semester starts so long as I got in.
