Did anyone else get Decision Days? (who exactly is that tailored for? students who are not all caucasian?) I got four invites haha and no Excel or Scholarship thing… disappointed, kind of…

Thank you to all who posted stats- mine are
SAT: 2360
7 5’s, 2 4’s
5.3 Weighted GPA- 1/424
Internship at MCV
Strong EC’s
Very solid CA essay, decent UNC essay
Great recs from teachers, good from counselor

Do I have a shot at Excel@carolina- what are they specifically looking for? Do the letters come in waves?
As always, any help is appreciated!

It seems like this year, Carolina is doing a lot of recruitment-type events/programs! Decision Days, Explore, LaUNCH, Carolina Firsts, etc

BTW, official acceptance packets were in the mail! They really do pack a lot of information in those (along with the official letter obviously).

Sorry to go off track but does anyone have the official EA numbers? As in applied, accepted, OOS acceptance rate, etc

I live in southeastern NC but havent receive my letter yet…hopefully i will get it in the mail tmr…!

I’m in southeast NC and haven’t gotten my letter yet either

To me, it makes sense for UNC to invite more IS to the scholarship day as they have a limit of percentage of OOS accepted students. Also OOS will cost the school a lot more.

@warren1717
Early Action 2018 - overall 30% acceptance rate
16,987 applicants
6,036 acceptances

I do not think that UNC releases specific data regarding OOS and IS for a specific application cycle. UNC claims that OOS overall acceptance has roamed around 15% over past few years and is around 50% overall for in state. Obviously those numbers are going down each year because of increases in applications.

@warren1717 they said that 2888 were deferred, about 6000 were accepted, so if you do the math that leaves about 8000 rejections. It’s about a 35% acceptance rate, which is higher than last year I believe but it’s also probably easier to get in EA than RD

Accepted, also received Excel Carolina letter on Saturday. Got acceptance packet today. I live about 30 mins from UNC. Invited to Decision Days, Explore, and Tarheel LaUNCh.

In State
2120 SAT
8 APs, took 2 extra exams. Good scores (2013 AP Scholar w/ Distinction). Rest of the classes were honors, except several w/o honors components (eg band & orch, which are very important. Important enough for me to not care if they bring W GPA down. )
4.6 W GPA, 3.8 UW
Top 7%
Very strong ECs; lots of leadership
Worked hard on essays
Recs from teachers who liked me a lot
3 national awards
From a well-known, difficult public school.

Has any international students gotten letters on Excel Carolina?
I just received my acceptance letter, and I’m wondering if the Excel letter could come tomorrow…

@highbeam - Intl. applicant from India, haven’t gotten an excel@carolina yet but fingers crossed

Has anyone been invited to the Honors College yet? Also how do we find out about all of these programs like Excel? Email or mail? I have not received my official acceptance letter for UNC in the mail yet but I saw it online. Is there more information in that?

Received Excel mail yesterday. No acceptance packet yet, but confirmed online acceptance on 1/30. No scholarship emails/mail:

OOS White Female

- Ranking: 2 out of 500+
- Year round athlete with some National results, but not D1 level,
- Multiple honor societies, plenty of volunteer work, some academic awards,

I haven’t received my paper acceptance or anything else in the mail.

Pursuit: My son received his acceptance packet and his invite to ExcelCarolina in the mail yesterday, Two separate mailings. ExcelCarolina gives an option to choose Honors Carolina.

Accepted OOS, got Excel letter in mail and email today.

What are some you Excel@Carolina guys thinking of possibly submitting as your top 5? The email came today and the survey is now active. I am stuck between Honors Carolina, the funded opportunities, Assured Accepts, and the programs (Research, Fellows, Public Service).

Are emails done in waves? If I haven’t gotten anything for Excel@Carolina is that it?

I live in western NC and still haven’t received my admissions packet…
