My son got accepted at UNC with an offer to join the accelerated research program, also got accepted at UMass Amherst for Computer science and also at Georgia Tech for computer science. He is an international student. Any advice where he should join ??

How do the costs compare? If cost is no object then GT might be a pretty good pick. Diverse urban setting and a great CS school to boot.

Georgia Tech for CS - one of the best CS programs in the US. If your son is interested in research, it is very available to undergraduates at Georgia Tech.

If money is not an object, GT is often a place where high end positions recruit along with ivy grads. But I would not go into debt for an undergraduate degree either. Graduate school will carry the most weight.

Based on what source? that would EA got almost the same as the entire univ the year before? Not saying impossible but that would be quite a jump.

What is his ultimate goal? If it is to do research and get an advanced degree then GTech is the best.
As far as direct employment is concerned after BS, avg salary is $110,089 at GTech:

You can look up other schools. I think UNC is around $90K. UNC does have the proximity to RTP with many top tech companies though.
Amherst did not report likely because of the low number of graduates but it shows over 50 got that degree. Or, could be less than great outcomes or that they did not want to for other reasons.

At UMass Amherst he is getting a scholarship of 16K per yr so net cost per year is 42k. At GTech it will be 50K per year

If I was in your shoes, I would go to GT.

This seems to be happening to my daughter too. Were you able to get on again?

Georgia Tech has the better reputation for Computer Science!

Georgia Tech is well worth the additional $8000 a year if you can swing it. Graduates get top dollar. We know a GT soon to be engineering grad who was told not to speak of his starting salary to the other interns (not GT) as it was substantially more. A GT degree has a lot of clout in the marketplace.
