It seems like ncsu admissions decisions were posted 1/28 last year. Does that mean we could be looking at 1/31 for UNC CH this year?

My guess is 1/27 for UNC and 1/20 for NCSU. As you will see if you visit the NCSU thread, some decisions are already coming/creeping out. So, this Friday is very likely for State.

Depends on where in the state. If he’s not in the top 10% of his class, reach if in Wake/Mecklenberg

I just looked at this. Wow thats crazy! Also diminished my small hope. But thank u… very informative.

We’re in the same boat. Luckily there are still some colleges around that are willing to take a sub-32, 4.3 GPA student

This is amazing! So helpful. I love real data. I wondered about the drop off of test score submissions and now I know. Thanks again!

Well, 2 out of 3 enrolled students submitted either SAT or ACT. Average SAT is 1425 and ACT is 31.2. GPA seems crazy high at 4.5 weighted!

I’d say you have decent chance. What major did you put down? Some are more competitive than others.

They asked up to 3 academic interests and I chose:

  1. Business Administration
    2.Information Science
    3.Philosophy, Politics and Economics

Is the 4.5 In-State GPA. Each state has different weighting so it is hard to determine what is comparable. I think is said unweighted (easier to compare since most students applying take Honors/AP etc) is like 3.5ish. Thoughts?

Well, the first two are impacted majors that require admission. I still think you have a decent shot.

Yes, I plugged in as in-state and found it a bit weird too. Core courses (many) are not honors level here in Wake county and NC, like Spanish 1/2 and some others. So, those are graded on a 4.0 scale. Further, many schools do not offer AP courses to offset. I suppose kids can do DE but still, seems quite high.
Common dataset says 4.4: https://oira.unc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/297/2022/07/CDS_2021-22_20220705.pdf
I think unweighted GPA is not very useful as the school emphasizes rigor. So, my guess is 4.25 - 4.6 is the likely spread.
