In addition, what are my chances to wake forest, Davison, NYU, U PENN, and Duke? i believe the last two are hard to reach with my extremely low sat scores. Heard that Davison gives tons of scholarships is it true?
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH AND I DO GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Retake SAT/ACT and you are in shape.
retake it until what kind of score? Thank you!
With your scores as they are you’re not getting into NYU, UNC, UPenn or Duke. You have a good chance at Davidson and Wake Forest. You’ll need vastly improved scores for any of the others.
NO, Davidson is a reach because your Reading score adn writing score are bottom 25%.
Not only that ,Davidson college is one of the top liberal arts college, and your ECs are not competitive enough. Same goes for Duke and Upenn.
Also, are you working as a cashier because you need money? If so, don’t apply to NYU. NYU’s FA is notorious for a very bad FA.
You definitely can get into to UNC! I got in with a 4.8 weighted GPA and 1730 SAT score. They read the whole application so write really good essays. Improving your scores will help but I still think you have a good chance either way.
@NCgirl2015 Congrats!
@Candyyyy You are in state and 75% of the class must come from NC. I’ve linked the Common Data Set for last year. On page 8 it shows some SAT scores for last years admitted students. It looks like 25% had 1800. You are in spitting distance of that score. You should retake in October. Find the CDS for every school you want to apply to and you can tell your chances. Good luck!

If you can get your SAT to about 1900 (or take the ACT and 30+), you should be in good shape for UNC. You should also have a good chance at NYU, but only if you can afford the ridiculous tuition (Paul is right, you shouldn’t expect any real aid from them). Wake Forest is also about an equal chance and you also have a shot at Davidson. Penn and Duke are probably unrealistic unless you can get your scores up to the 2100 range.
