To make sure I understand (and my D did get in so that’s good news!), is all merit aid given at acceptance? That is, Ii realize they may wait a few weeks before determining the amount but is the possibility of merit only possible during this initial moment?

Daughter accepted (in-state, ACT 32, GPA 3.85/4.7weighted). She is so excited.
Oos rejected with 2310 sat, this makes it easy for my other choices.
Ah, one of my friends got it at 7:55 as well. Looks like excel@carolina isn’t happening for those of us who didn’t get the e-mail yet

I have been reading this thread since it started but I just wanted to say that I am in state and have been accepted which was a surprise to myself considering my SAT score was a 1670. Congratulations to everyone and to those who were not accepted remember that there is a plan in store for everyone and everything will work out how it’s supposed to in life.
@Bluedevil98 The Admissions Blog said in-state Scholarship Day invitations will go out in the next couple of days. I would imagine it would be Thursday or Friday. I suspect that the Excel and Scholarship Day invitations are mutually exclusive, so it could be a good sign that you have not received an Excel invitation.

No. Selection for merit scholarships is independent of selection for Excel@Carolina.
Accepted in Florida! 2050 SAT and 3.98 GPA / 5.06 weighted. First out of state decision :’) No Exel@Carolina but I’m still SO EXCITED

Thank goodness. My daughter was accepted (33 ACT, 2150 SAT, 3.98 W & 6.09 W IB) and received an excel@carolina email invite last evening. I can stop stressing now. She has multiple applications still out and won’t hear until March 31-April 1 but no matter what happens with those she loves UNC. If she does get into any of the others it will be a tough decision to make when the time comes. That said it’s all gravy now and I can relax.
Son was accepted OOS, but I am confused about all the scholarship/excel stuff. I must have missed the earlier posts. Can someone explain? Thanks!
@Joe2015 I understand the FAQ, but there are merit scholarships offered as an option in Excel, e.g., the Chancellor’s Science Scholars. And there are some other extraneous merit scholarships. It appears that OOS Scholarship Day invitees did not receive Excel invitations. Of course, I could be wrong.
DD was deferred OOS. 4.0 GPA / 4.23 Weighted. 34 ACT.
@wstrav That’s interesting. My son was accepted OOS and did not recieve excel invite, which was surprising. Do we know when scholarship invites come out? Also, did anyone apply for the Robertson? Don’t remember when those results come out??
