UNC Class of 2021 EA

When you say strong, what exactly do you mean? SAT/ACT or other things. Because apart from SAT I feel like I’m a strong candidate too. @adp106

@adepani3112 check out my stats, I posted them on a previous page. I’m guessing that the strong candidates who did not receive the email will either receive an invitation to scholarship day (as you cannot get excel Carolina and an invitation) or excel has already matched them to a program, therefore did not need them to rank their program choice

Has anyone out of state received an Excel email?

@adepani3112 impressive! We actually have most of those clubs/AP classes in common but you definitely have more leadership positions. Which excel programs did you select on your application?

@adepani3112 I didn’t submit my SAT score, just my ACT (30). We have similar GPAs, too (mines a 4.87). I think you posted your stats earlier, you’re in-state right? You should be a lock for admission. I’m surprised you didn’t receive an e-mail, did you check your junk folder? That’s where I found mine.

Study abroad and assured admission into ken an flagler @caligrl14567

*kenan haha

@adepani3112 it’s possible they’ve already selected you for one of those then based on your common app/supplements that they thought would best suit you and didn’t need help deciding in your case

Oh yeah haha, never thought of that. What do you think my chances are because I’m really worried due to my Low SAT. @caligrl14567

@adepani3112 Your SAT isn’t that low honestly. You’re a little over average for the typical accepted student in recent years. Your other stats are exceptional, so having one aspect of your application be only above average isn’t going to make or break you. I really think there’s a possibility that the email is somewhere in your junk/spam folder. That or what caligirl said is correct.

@adepani3112 your SAT is definitely on the mid to low side, but converted to the old SAT is around an 1800, so not too bad. Your GPA and extracurriculars are definitely impressive and in my opinion, will make up for your SAT since they prove you’re better than your score. I think you are almost guaranteed admission, your stats are great and many worse than you have gotten in.

Very difficult to compare GPA’s with students outside of NC. Most NC high schools typically add 2 pts to an AP grade and that’s even going to vary in each state/school district. I don’t know what the academic profile is for in state applicants, or if UNC even publishes that data, but it’s not going to be a valid comparison with someone from say, Georgia, where AP’s are given a 1 pt bump or “quality point”. It’s likely to be different in CA too.

Looking at the student profile the avg is like 1790 though. @adp106

Your 1240 translates into about an 1800, like caligirl said before. So your right at about the average. Your GPA is great, your extracurriculars are great, leadership positions are great. Plus you’re in-state. I don’t see a way you don’t get accepted, honestly.

Very true. Most colleges will calculate based on their own scale through the student’s transcript.

So you guys really think I have a shot? @caligrl14567 @adp106

@adepani3112 Are you asking about admission or excel? If we’re talking admission, and you’re in-state, I’d say there’s a 99.9% that you’re accepted. I don’t know enough about excel to give you a credible estimate on that.

@adepani3112 I’d say you’ve got a great shot. Your stats+in-state is pretty much guaranteed admission

@caligrl14567 @adepani3112
