UNC Class of 2021 EA

i heard u need to have at least a 34 and a 3.9+ to be competitive as an out of state.

on the website it says that the most important things are essay scores, high school class rigor, and essays
Id say that 34s and 3.9 gpas are the most common grades among accepted students, but i dont think itsd impossible if you have really good extra curriculars. theres alwaysa chance

@greenhandbook my stats:
Act: 27 I think
New Sat: 1230
All Honors and Ap Classes since freshman year
All IB classes junior and senior year
Rank: 7/440
National Honors Society, officer for beta club, scholar athlete, competitive cheer, sideline cheer, volleyball (10th grade), French Honors Society, 100+ hours of community service

@mose4242: Our OOS high school usually has a couple of students admitted each year to UNC-CH; and, with the exception of legacy students, our admitted students have SAT scores of 1350+, ACT scores of 34+, and weighted GPAs of 4.5+. Other kids in our city who I know were admitted to UNC-CH recently have also had similar statistics; and all of these kids were “unhooked” in admissions parlance (i.e., not a recruited D-1 athlete, or URM, first-generation college student, etc.).

If you look at the UNC-CH common data set, under Part C7 it states that standardized test scores, application essay, letter(s) of recommendation, and rigor of your high school record are “very important” academic factors considered for freshman admission, whereas GPA and class rank are “important” academic factors considered for freshman admission. So class rank and GPA are, according to the common data set, not quite as important as ACT/SAT scores, your essay(s), and LORs.

If you applied EA, you will probably be getting an official answer to your question in the very near future.

28 Act, 3.8 gpa OOS applicant here still reserving some hope but feeling overcome with doubt. ;)) ahhh

Hi. I am OOS, recommened by AO for Morehead, but can’t do it because I applied to Robertson but did not receive an email about EXCEL. I am extremely nervous for the admission results.

Hey guys so if we are accepted next week will we know if we got into the Excel programs also or not yet for those who have received the email? Hope everyone gets in as well

On @connectcarolina twitter it says "On Thursday from 5pm-12am, there will be a ConnectCarolina outage to conduct the Spring 2017 consensus. For more info: https://ccinfo.unc.edu/2017/01/spring-census-2017-upcoming-outage-jan-26/ "

So does this mean decisions won’t come out Thursday since Connect Carolina is where our decisions are? Maybe Friday then?

On UNC admissions Twitter it said that decisions will first be sent out by email?

I think that’s a mistake by Admissions. Usually they send an e-mail with instructions, but not the actual decision.

I’m a current (non-admissions) employee and we’ve been told there will be no access to the ConnectCarolina Student Center during the outage. Based on that, I’m guessing no decisions before Friday. I think it would be a real hassle for the admissions staff if decisions were released shortly before the system went down, and I’m sure they’d prefer to avoid that. I have no inside information and I don’t know anyone in the admissions office, so that’s really just a guess. And it’s not a promise that it will be Friday, either! Could be next week, for all I know.

Wow. Now they’re just messing with us.

@nduclaunc I’m in your same boat. SAT 1330 (super score), ACT 27 (did not send), UWGPA 3.85, W 4.45… I guess we will see what happens…

Logically, I’ve got to think they will wait until Friday to release decisions. Releasing on Wednesday seems a little unlikely given a known planned outage on Thursday.

I have no inside information on this though. Sorry for all of you waiting on pins and needles. The waiting will be over soon™.

Don’t you guys think that the outage is leading up to the release of decisions and therefore Friday is very likely the day?

FWIW, my OOS un-hooked kid was accepted EA with a 33 ACT (good class ranking, ECs too)

@collegemomjam I think that happened one year in another EA thread I read. I’m not sure though.

I think it has to be Friday. Either that or we won’t hear until next week.

decisions most likely would not be released on a Monday or Tuesday, so hopefully Friday?

My Michigan decision was released on a wednesday, so who knows?
