It’s just so frustrating because I know they have all their decisions made up!! Tell us already, please!
I’m feeling really worried about my senior course load…
first semester I only had 2 classes: AP Human Geo, AP Statistics, and I had late arrival and early release. ( I have received 2 A’s in those classes so far)
Second semester I have 4 classes: AP English, anatomy and physiology honors, biomedical technology 2, and visual arts 2. There was not really any other honors or AP course offered that I could take / haven’t already taken. We do have AP calculus but I had taken AP Statistics instead because I thought the information is more useful for going into pre-med. So overall, I am taking 6 classes senior year instead of 8 and i wonder how bad that will hurt my application. I needed flexibility for my work schedule because I am trying to save up as much as I can before college and took that opportunity to do so. As previously mentioned I work 20 hours a week as a salesperson and full time in the summer. I am regretting my decision to not take more classes but there was no other competitive classes that I could take at my school because I already took them all for the most part. Do you think this is going to really hurt my chances to be accepted?
In no part of my application did i state my reasons for not taking 8 classes because i didn’t know where to explain the situation at. Should I email them or do you think it even matters at this point?

I know everyone here is anxious and eager but I think everyone here (myself included) needs to hanker down and CHILL. It’s confirmed that they’ll be coming sometime before the end of the month. Get back to your studies, live your daily lives, just get your minds OFF UNC. It’s coming soon and you will soon know your fate. It’s not coming any earlier. It’s not coming tomorrow. Sitting down on this site all day stressed will change nothing. Be confident in what you put down and don’t let a college admissions website freak you out. I promise College Confidential is a helpful resource but has probably been the contributing factor to 5 million panic attacks lol.
Congratulations to anyone admitted to State today!!! Go Heels! But if they don’t want me, Go Pack!
@hscot7469 - what’s done is done so do your best to chill. It isn’t like you failed to report your SATs or get an LoR.
You’ll sound desperate.
Good luck.
Chill
hscot7469 - Deep breath! UNC read your application within the context of your school and your working situation. If If by chance you’re deferred you could certainly provide some additional information about your course load, but I’m sure your counselor rec letter made it clear that you nearly exhausted the rigor at your high school. The admissions folks at UNC are familiar with every school district and probably every high school in the state. They’ll “get it.” Try to relax and I’m pulling for good news from you this week!
@byadg123 @AlmostThere2018 You guys are right. I need to stop stressing and overthinking this. Thank you both so much. I need to just completely log off of my computer and try and forget about this for a couple days it’s driving me crazy.
@hscot7469 In your school report (someone correct me if I am wrong) it details all of the advanced courses available at your school so they would know that you have taken pretty much all the AP/honors courses available to you. In terms of contacting them, I don’t know how much of a difference it would make at this point since their decision is already made so I don’t know how much of an impact it would make if you cleared your scheduling problem up. Obviously, it would not hurt to call and speak to someone about this, but I would not stress too much because it is somewhat out of our hands now. If you get deferred, then you’d definitely want to contact them and clear it up. But if you’ve taken every advanced course available to you, then you have nothing to worry about!
@hscot7469 Hi! I’m also going for a premed track, and you should know that all or most medical schools list Calc 1 and Calc 2 as prerequisites, and Stats is not required. I’m currently in Calc 2, which actually isn’t that hard, so don’t let the work “calculus” intimidate you! It’s just another math class. A lot of it is pretty easy stuff (except for the potato problem on the AB test last year, rip). Also, CHILL. Eat some chocolate. Take a bubble bath. You are FINE (:
May I suggest binging some tv? Anything not set in HS or college!
^I recommend Grey’s Anatomy. Nothing like a little life or death to put college admissions into perspective!
For in state applicants, how much do unweighted GPAs factor into admission? Due to course rigor, my unweighted GPA is a bit on the lower side in terms of UNC admissions but my weighted GPA is decent enough (low-mid 3.6 vs mid 4.7). I have a 34 ACT and an 800 Math 2 to ‘alleviate’ for it if that helps. I’m just worried that the unweighted GPA will drag me down.
__
I recommend binging Black Mirror, let it mess with your mind before admissions does
Thank you guys! I feel a lot better I’m done stressing there’s nothing I can do but wait and yes watch some greys anatomy in the meantime!!
Hihihihi I really wanted to be chill through this process, but every time I think about decisions, I want to run across the world a few times so could some kind souls chance me??
