@Carolina6 Yes; I got it yesterday at around 7:00 pm.
Congrats on being a covenant scholar!! I’m hoping to hear the same news back. If you don’t mind my asking, what’s your EFC? I’m curious how selective they are with distributing it b/c I’m nervous I won’t get it :-S
@UNCCH2022 thank you! And my EFC was 1645. My agi for a family of 2 was 27925. I’ll paste a table from the website so you can get an idea of where you may stand. This is what I used to see my chances.
Family Size-Max AGI
2 - $31,860
3 - $40,180
4 - $48,500
5 - $56,820
6 - $65,140
I also found out I was a Covenant Scholar last night! Is it only based on income?
Thank you for sharing! So I should be fine? My EFC is 0 and AGI was about 21,000 (size of 3) for 2016. My financial aid was just put in to be processed a few days ago so I feel a bit on edge not knowing still. The covenant seems like such a blessing tbh
@UNCCH2022 Don’t worry. I was nervous I would not get it either. You are definitely eligible for it. If you’re selected for verification just make sure you get those documents in on time. Unfortunately, this happened to someone I know and they were denied the Covenant because they waited too long to submit the documents. They were stuck with loans. If selected get those in by March 1st. Other than that good luck to you and God bless.
Loving seeing all this good financial aid news come through. Anyone out there who’s been accepted but is having trouble pulling together the financial aid document, ask for help from your guidance counselor and reach out to UNC. Don’t be afraid. It’s too important and your future is waiting for you. Congrats future Tar Heels!!! Go be awesome!
If anyone is still waiting on the Carolina Covenant, I emailed UNC and they said my aid was being packaged and would be available in the next 2-3 weeks. Just a little bit more time!
I also emailed them and they also said 2-3 weeks, but I got it less than a week later.
Also, has anyone received a laptop grant?
@theboyoverthere I have not gotten one yet but we should know by late April. From the Carolina Computing Initiative: “Those who qualify for a laptop grant will be notified by late April or after being admitted.”.
If my EFC was zero would the carolina covenant cover the full cost for me to go to college?
@breakfeastclub1234567890 yes. Through grants, scholarships and work study.
I am not entirely sure how financial aid works. For personal expenses and transportation included in the aid award, does UNC give me back that money? What about books and supplies? I am a Covenant Scholar.
is heel mail the only place you can see if you are a covenant scholar? does it show in your connect carolina ?
@breakfeastclub1234567890 when I opened my ConnectCarolina and checked my FA package there was an amount listed as Carolina Covenant Scholarship. That would be another indicator.
Does any one know if they are still notifying people if they are covenant scholars? My financial situation qualifies me but i haven’t received any notifications about financial aid
@breakfeastclub1234567890 I was notified on my unc email yesterday evening that I am a Covenant Scholar, so I’m sure they are still notifying people.
If we are a Carolina Covenant Scholar but want to stay in Granville about how much would the cost difference be?
How are outside scholarships counted? Will they be returned if we’re Covenant Scholars?
@breakfeastclub1234567890 I got the Carolina Covenant email and notification on my portal yesterday so they’re still coming out.
