Was wondering about Fall break. Is this unique to UNC, something common to southeast schools or even wider spread? At UNC, how do most students spend it (go home, go elsewhere, stick around and study or play, etc)? Does campus empty out? Are there any University departments or campus organizations which sponsor events/trips, etc, akin to alternative spring break or short-term academic oriented travel?

Thanks for any information.

Yes, most people go home. Dorms remain open during fall break though, if you want to stay.

Also, in my experience, professors will still assign homework over the break, or have essays/exams soon after. Some students need the break just to get the work done.

Since the vast majority of students are in-state, they tend to go home. The central part of the state accounts for a huge bunch of people.

I’m out of state so I will be staying but my roommate who is also out of state will be going home. I know that campus will, for the most part, empty out because even on Labor Day weekend a lot of the students went home and that was only a 3-day weekend!
