I am a resident of North Carolina and therefore obviously have the great UNC-Chapel Hill to go to. I have gotten into both UNC-CH and Johns Hopkins, and I am interested in doing a mixture of physics and biology (maybe biophysics major at Hopkins) on a pre-med track. The difference in tuitions is quite significant, but I am able to pay for both schools. I have visited both schools, and I like the atmosphere at JHU better, as well as the campus. But would it make sense to go to JHU when I have this wonderful state school so close to home? Also, would going to JHU over UNC help me in the long run in any way?

help in long run = career opportunities/$

I think JHU would help more in the long run. There are so many opportunities to get involved and have hands on experience in the field you want, especially pre-med. There are so many research opportunities that nearly everyone is conducting some form of research. I think JHU is a higher caliber school. I'm personally going to JHU BME.
