UNC life

Hey everyone! I have a few questions about UNC.
1. I'm going to be honest, I'm looking to party big time in college. What's the party scene like at UNC? Are frats really big? Are their parties easy to get into (I'm a girl)? Are apartment parties popular?
2. What's the college town like? I'm assuming it's great, as I've only heard good things about Chapel Hill. Are there a lot of student book stores as well as regular clothing stores and some chain coffee shops?
3. I'm from MA. What are the chances of me getting in from out-of-state? I have a pretty strong resume, but I'm no Ivy contender.

Thanks!

Carolina is a lot of fun but it’s not really a huge party school. I’d look more into UF or Penn State if that’s what you’re going for.

That said, there definitely ARE parties and for those who go greek, greek life is big. All girls comfortable with showing some skin are welcome to come into frat houses where they are free to spill alcohol all over the leather couches pushed off to the side. Said girls are not allowed to ask what the green stuff in the shot glasses are without being told to shut up and drink it. Man. Love me some frats. And no, they’re not all that bad. But some are.

I have nothing to do with greek life but still have a good time and no I’m not at all a nerd. I’m 21. There are plenty of great bars, especially in Carrboro, and people start having house parties more sophomore and junior year. That’s more my style.

There are your chain coffee shops, and down into Carrboro there are great study spots. There’s the open eye, the looking glass, and joey’s. The looking glass is my favorite.

I have no idea what your chances are like without knowing anything about you, but honestly your description of yourself is a little worrying. You don’t have to be Ivy caliber, but you have to be close.
