I get accepted in UCSD management science major and UNC chapel hill Sophomore economic major. For UNC, I will transfer to their business school after spend one or two semester there. For UCSD I will go directly into their junior year. I am an international student. I know UNC is far better than UCSD, but UNC has a little recognition in Asia. Now I am in a great dilemma to choose the best school for my future.

I may be in a similar situation if I get into USC as an econ major, in which I would transfer into their business school as well. Its hard though, because management science at UCSD has an amazing curriculum and they are very highly ranked for econ. Look around in the UC transfer forum and search management science, and you can see some feedback from students of that major. It seems incredible. Also, I drove down to their career center and spoke with a counselor. I got to look at a list of what people are doing and making out of college with management science and econ degrees from UCSD and many were in analyst positions making $55,000 and up right out of school. It was surprising considering all the people on this forum who worry about it not being a target school.
Enough of that though, I just think I may feel cheated on my education if I go anywhere else after looking at the curriculum for management science, as well as the course descriptions.... Its hardcore, and Im looking foreward to it.

Is UCSD management science that good? I know someone who just graduate from UCSD MS major, he is in hard situation to find a job now.

evo9, what type of analyst positions

im pretty sure unc has a really good arrangement w/ the natl university of singapore. just throwing that out there

I forgot exactly what analyst positions, but all of them started at $55k, with one at 65, and one at 45. (maybe 15-20 total I think? I may be off though). But anyway, I was not able to take the list with me but I paid $20 for pre enrollment ability to access port triton and all the career center resources, however for some reason my password info is not working, so as soon as I figure that out, I will give you guys allot more detailed info.

Oh, and one thing I thought was weird though was one MS major was a manager at golden spoon making like $38k I think. Kind of a random job for this major, I thought.

i wonder if any from ucsd went into buyside/sellside finance

If I remember correctly, someone was hired by Lehman Bros. and someone by UBS.
There were some described as business analyst or financial analyst for local small names and some in SF.
Ill still update when I get logged into their site though.
