Hey Everyone! Recently I was accepted into both App State and UNCC. Both of which were in my top choices.
I’m planning on trying to double major in finance and accounting, and know that UNCC is supposed to have pretty good connections in the Charlotte area. I also love the city of Charlotte and that the school is close to carowinds and Panther games.
As for App State I’ve heard it doesn’t have as good a business school but I don’t know if that’s true. I love the mountains and App State’s campus. But not knowing how well App’s business school is regarded, i can’t compare it to Charlotte that easily.
So how do the two schools compare in terms of business schools? Which has the better student life and atmosphere? Which is better regarded academically?
Thanks for the responses!
I really can’t say based on facts which is better than the other. What I can say from personal experience of working in the corporate world and interacting with recent graduates…I would chose UNCC. Mainly for it’s location. You would have access to so many companies and options for internships in Charlotte. If the department is worth anything they should have connects (and continuing to build connections) to employ their graduates in that area. The majority of the recent graduates I interact with all had internships and this was the door that opened for a job after graduation. Also, if you chose to continue on to grad school at some point, several top notch universities have programs based in the Charlotte downtown area…Wake Forest, UNCC, and Elon.
I would ask each business school about the percentage of graduates employed after six months. If so, where are the majority employed? What recruiters consistently come to their school of business to conduct interviews? What percentage do they hire from the school?
Four years is going to fly by quick and the end goal is a job. Which school is going to set you in the best position to do so six months out of the gate?
Good luck!
