How prestigious/good are these colleges for business, from best to worst?

Of the remaining three, Wilmington is considered the best overall school. Charlotte is a significant banking center though, so that might count for something.

I would personally choose either Wilmington or NC State. I like the personal touch and connections that you get with a school like UNCW. NC State is worth considering if you want to specialize in the tech sector of business.

My brother majored in business at Appalachian State many years ago. He liked it and has done quite well.

Chapel Hill is easily the most prestigious of those institutions. While NC State is renowned for its STEM (particularly engineering) program,not really for it’s social sciences programs.

I would only consider Chapel Hill. It is a state school, but decent enough.

@informative Chapel Hill is so much more than “decent enough”…

@ASJackson923 had it spot on with his list. @Otterma summed it up very nicely as well.

I would definitely give strong consideration to UNCW for business. I’m a business major, and the Cameron School of Business truly is a very excellent B-School for undergrad. That’s honestly the one area where we actually beat NC State, lol! I would also look at Appalachian State, very much academically equal to UNCW (but the locations couldn’t be more different!!)

I’ll look into UNCW. I’d rather go to Wilmington over App State though. I’d prefer a midsize coastal city over a small college town.

@LBad96 If you don’t mind my asking, why is UNCW better than NCSU for business? The rankings I’ve seen ( which I take with a grain of salt) put NCSU Jenkins School of Business over UNCW Cameron School of Business. Obviously, you have more to say than a numerical ranking, so your reasons for you putting UNCW over NCSU would be appreciated. :slight_smile:

No problem. It’s just that NC State focuses more on engineering and computer science. This isn’t saying that NC State’s business school isn’t good. Just that UNCW’s B-School is better because the school at large has several very strong programs and isn’t known to just have two dominant programs.
