I got accepted into FIU and I am currently waiting for an email from FSU. I am undeclared and I have no idea what I want to study. I want to make sure that I find something that I like and that usually pays well. If FSU does accept me, then I need to have a decision made by the end of December, ( I find out from FSU on Dec 17th). Here are my pros and cons of each school. Tuition is not a problem since I have Florida prepaid and I have considered all of the other schools here in Florida. Please do not suggest to me other schools, I am down to these two.
FSU:
This university is nationally known and it has a beautiful campus, great campus life, and school spirit. FSU is what I think of when I think of a traditional, stereotypical college experience. I want a traditional feel because I want a good college experience. The problem with FSU is that there is not that many majors to choose from. Sure there is a lot, but not a lot that call my attention. FSU is amazing and although there is no city life, I am fine with that because experiencing college is more important to me than going out to the city. There are not that many Hispanics at FSU, I want diversity. I do not want anyone to be offended, but I did hear that FSU students are usually conservative and can have boxed in views. I do not know if that is true or not; I want an honest answer.
FIU:
FIU is not as known as FSU but I am fine with that. This university is in a city and it has more majors to choose from than FSU. It does not have as much school spirit, but it is very diverse. This college is very open and accepting, but it lacks in campus life and that college feel. My brother goes here and he tells me about how it lacks that typical college experience. FIU does not have all the amenities that FSU has, but it does have many activities to do outside of campus. FIU does have the National Student Exchange program, which I would do once I find my major.
If you were me and you had to decide on one of these colleges, what would you choose? College experience is important, but my major is more important and to have many to choose from is important as well. I know some people that went to a college just because they liked the place, but they did not go there for their intended major. They picked whatever major they could choose from all so that they could go to that famous school. College is four years, but the major that you choose has to make you happy forever.
