I’m sorry for asking so many questions on the BU discussion board x[

Anyway, here’s my question. Basically, I know for sure that I wanna apply to CAS, but I’m still not sure whether I want to declare my major already or not… If I say undeclared, would my chances go down a little? also, is it better to already have declared my major when entering BU? (adv or disadv?) Thank youuu!

It honestly isn't that important to go in with a major. In the very beginning, you will be taking the general requirement classes just like anyone else, regardless of if you have a major or not. For example, Writing 100 and Writing 150 are required classes for everyone. In CAS, there are four categories of classes: humanities, social sciences, math and computer sciences, and natural sciences. You must take 2 classes in every category. So if you come in undeclared, just take your general requirements with a few classes scattered up among the different categories. You really can't go wrong.

It's completely up to you. If you're positive that you want to stay in CAS, then going in undeclared isn't going to be a problem. With the thing Devilsrule described, if you know, for example, that you aren't going to be a humanities major, then you take two classes in that your first and second semester just to get them out of the way [if you're declared, you don't take classes in that division your first year or so]. All it means is that you'll be able to try a broader selection of classes if you're not entirely sure what you want to do.

Thank you, guys! But, do you think it's better if you declare a major on your application?? (if you pretty much know what you wanna do)..like does it look better than undeclared??
