Under Review

I noticed a status change to my application status this morning to under review and now all material needed on application checklist are switched to completed. Once it hits this status how long does it typically take for a decision.

Just a few days. Did you apply to UP or a branch campus? Have not seen any under review for UP yet.

UP as primary choice… I added summer option if needed and Altoona as a second choice

What was your major?

Well, I would say that you are one of the first! Good luck!

DUS was what I put for my major

@girlzan When did you turn in your application?

If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats like?

I turned in Application on or around 9/4

I just tried to log in but it looks like the system is down? Could that mean they are updating statuses?

My STATS:

SAT: 1320
ACT: 28
GPA: 4.3 Weighted
AP Classes: AP US GOV, AP PSYCH, AP CALC I, AP BIO, AP STATS, AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
AP US GOV - 3 on AP Test
AP Psych - 5 on AP Test
9- Dual Enrollment College Credits
4 Years of Spanish
Top 5% of Class
4 Years Orchestra
4 Years Soccer
National Honor Society
Student Government Executive Board

@girlzan I would say you are going to be very happy in a few days!

Really hoping so…just anxious to hear for sure

@girlzan @PAHoosier Your status can read “under review” for months. Changing to “under review” does NOT mean that a decision is forthcoming. It ONLY means that they have all of your materials and you’ve entered the pile of applications that will be under review…and reviews do not occur in order. I know. It’s horribly frustrating.

In 2014, my daughter’s application was ‘under review’ from mid September until she got her acceptance January 26, 2105. She is a junior now. I’ve been on this board for years and while I know it can be really, really difficult to wait (it was for us too!), the VAST majority of decisions will come out in December and January with the majority of THOSE decisions coming in January. That being said, girlzan, you will get in. I have no doubt with your stats that you will get into DUS without summer option. I will also say that some really higher stat kids DO hear in November and your stats could make you one of those. So, basically, the bottom line is that the change in your status doesn’t say anything about how long the wait from here on out is. It could be 2 weeks, and it could be 2 months. No way to tell. But, I am confident you will get in regardless, and believe me when I say - no one asks when you were accepted once you are there (Unless you stay on this board!).

Good luck and hang in there!

@jlhpsu Thanks for the feedback… one side question… Schreyer Honors…just wondering what your thoughts are for my potential to get into there? I havent applied yet…but others keep telling me that I should and that I still can.

I would most definitely apply with your stats. The acceptance rate is low, but if you get in, there are a lot of perks. The decision to get in is not solely based on your grades and test scores. It is much more holistic and will include an interview. I would try for sure. You have a good chance based on stats alone - but again, it’s more than that.

Schreyer admission is very much based on the essays, so it’s kind of impossible to chance for.

A friendly reminder that Schreyer doesn’t look at your test scores. It’s all about the essays, and the interview (which is optional). Schreyer is looking for “world changers” – ambitious, focused students with lots of potential to become influencers and global citizens. Having super great grades is a foregone conclusion. But yes, you should get to work on those essays!
