About how much do I have to pay total for UIUC with an EFC of 0? I live in Illinois so I don't have to pay out of state tuition.

I think the whole expense which includes tuition, housing, food and everything else is between 25,000 and 28,000 for instaters. If you are very smart and have an outstanding acedemic record, you might be able to get some scholarship. How much? I do not know.

Wow, johnetcus has no idea what he is talking about. Absolute nonsense.

In-state tuition is approximately $20,000 to $23,000. Even less if you choose to live at home, probably around $15,000. I'm sure you can find some scholarships and eventually attend UIUC for close to $10,000 a year (which would be amazing).

My figures are from UIUC website and I was talking about TOTAL cost.

Estimated Summary of Expenses for 2008 – 2009
Residents Non-residents
TOTAL ESTIMATED COSTS $24,714 - 28,866* $38,498 - 42,650*

Take a look.

Illinois does not guarantee to meet 100% of need. It is usually more in the 70% to 80% range combination of grants and loans and often heavy on the loans. Thus with an EFC of 0, you can expect to still have to find 20% or more of your estimated costs outside of what will be given.

johnetcus knows what he's talking about dude.

Your numbers are wayyyyyyyy off. If you live at home you only take $8,500 out so it's still $20,000 a year without aid.

I agree johnetcus does know what he is talking about, it is costing me roughly (grand total) $27,000 and that is with a $1200 scholarship I got for ECE.
