What are some good schools that offer undergraduate applicants a chance at guaranteed medical school admission? Such as Northwestern's HPME and Brown's PLME...

also check out the "multiple degree programs" section of the Pre-med & Medical School forum here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/forumdisplay.php?f=476
Lots of informed people there

Thanks! Are any of you looking into these programs?

I am not, but I know quite a lot about them as I was seriously considering it for a time

I'm looking into Boston University, Brown, and the University of Rochester. I was also considering Northwestern for a while. The main deterrent for me is the fact that as an international student, I don't qualify for need-based aid at these schools (I know that some universities consider Canadians as domestic students for financial aid). Right now I'm crossing my fingers that if I get into any of these programs (that's the first challenge :)), I'll also qualify for merit scholarships.

PSU and Drexel also have programs like that

I'm not really interested in the accelerated programs. I'd just like to get into a college without having to go through med school applications in 3-4 years. Brown is the one I'm most interested in, but I don't know how my chances of getting into just the college are.

I sincerely don't want to go to Penn State or Drexel. BU was a safety school for a while, but I decided to replace it with Michigan. I heard some skepticism over whether Mich is continuing its undergrad/med school thing. Does anybody know for certain if it's still having that deal?

It's been discontinued for a while. So no program for UMich

Aha ok. Even if they were, I don't want to go there.

there really aren't very many 8 year programs (that was the only type i was interested in too) so you might find yourself only applying to 1 or 2 programs tops :p if you restrict yourself this way.

I'm pretty sure that both the University of Southern California and Case Western Reserve have 8 year programs. Also, with the 7 year programs, some will let you take an optional 8th year, so that may be something to look into.

Really? I was looking at USC, but their online application was too confusing so I didn't explore it much.

Another 8 year program is the University of Rochester's REMS (for a while I thought it was a 7 year program; that's why I didn't mention it earlier as a possible 8 year for you to look into)
