I am going to study undergraduate psychology program. In your opinion, how to compare the psychology program between those two schools: Emory and McGill in the way of the quality of education, not tuition? Thanks!
It’s hard to compare two universities when very few people have gone to both, but I’ll just talk about McGill.
- If this means anything to you, McGill has a much much higher ranking on QS Pscyhology (23 in the world), Emory is 150+
2)Emory has a smaller student faculty ratio overall, but the two are the same for upper years (most frequent class size) - Not sure what psyc at Emory is like, but psych at McGill is definitely a premier major here that’s better quality than say, the average physical sciences. (Life sciences are McGill’s pride)
4)Probably goes true for Emory too, but McGill has an unbelievable amount of research positions for undergrads; they do make it a point for undergrads to get involved in research. - Both McGill and Emory has excellent ties to medical research facilities… both schools have their own hospitals. At least for McGill, experimental medicine also has deep ties to all the life sciences, so more opportunities.
- McGill’s honours programs are great: they let you start grad courses and research in undergrad and might even knock a year out for masters. Makes you super likely to be directly admitted to masters as a junior.
So as you can tell, it’s hard to objectively compare McGill and Emory other than the huge disparity in rankings (which may or may not be meaningful). You probably can’t go wrong with either.
Thanks!!
