Undisciplined

Well the reason I am doing distance learning is probably because I'm pretty undisciplined. I grew up in a family where work ALWAYS took first priority, and thats still my mind frame to this day. So anyways, fast forward... Here I am 2 years into this distance program and I only have 4 credits so far. See my problem? What do I do? I know I could finish faster if I actually achieved some sense of discipline. So how do I go about finishing this faster?

Myabe distance learning isn't the best choice for you, if you don't, at present, have the discipline to work regularly at it. Have you considered community college classes or online courses with deadlines to keep you on track? Or perhaps working with a tutor...

Maybe for one thing you could stop posting on CC and get busy on your coursework ;)

Here's what I'd suggest if you were my child:
1 Set realistic goals then work to achieve them. Do you want to finish a course this summer? Then figure out how many pages or hours you need to do a day, write down your goal, and make sure you do it. Check it off at the end of each day.
2 Keep a to do list in your day planner. (You DO have a day planner, don't you?)
3 Force yourself to stick to your schedule. So make sure you build in free time so you don't throw the whole schedule out the window after two days.
4 Work for a reasonable amount of time at once but don't over do. Two hours at a pop might work. Then take 15 minutes to unwind, have a snack, whatever.
5 Exercise! I know it sounds very schooly, but our minds work better when we move our bodies. So take a run or shoot some hoops every day.

You'll be teaching yourself to be more disciplined by writing everything down. I had to do this myself in college and it changed my life.
Good luck! You'll get through your courses.
