I was admitted into the University of North Florida. However I requested to change my major it day after I received the letter of my acceptance. This immediately resulted in the cancellation of my application in a new application has been started. I have lost access to the schools student panel in email system as I am now being treated as a new applicant. I’ve contacted the school and they have said that this is normal procedure. The application status still has my acceptance letter logged in the communications. I can’t help but stress about this and I’ve been stressing my family out . I’m a transfer student and have contacted unf several times about this. The second application is still in “no decision made” status . I wish the university would have assigned me an advisor to talk with instead. Does this mean my acceptence to the college has been cancelled with along my first application? I’ve just never heard of being admitted and then unadmitted into a college overnight over a major request change. This is really bothering me. I have appointments with unfs disability services to sign forms and transfer services to discuss application status on Oct 6 so hopefully I will know more by then.
Keep calling to find out what’s going on. Why did you change majors as a transfer? Particularly after being accepted? It looks like you’ve asked to go into a more competitive major.
Was that a bad idea ? To change majors…I’ve been emailing and calling like everyday . This is not fair …I seriously went from being admitted to not admitted overnight …the day I got the acceptance letter. Is it too late to undue the major change? I changed from studio art to communication multimedia production cause I just wanted to minor in studio art. I was just overly excited.
They told me this is normal procedure for major change.
Call them and ask if you can be changed back to your original major but don’t expect to change it at a later date. If this were a UC or CSU school I would say the second major is impacted. I’m not sure how UNF handles that.
Wrong thread, sorry!
At some schools, some majors requires special consideration. At my son’s school, nursing, music, and clinical health care are majors whose applications are more competitive and must have auditions or meet certain academic requirements. Some schools have a competitive engineering department. But if you haven’t changed your major to a more competitive field, I wouldn’t worry about it. My son (not the same school) change his major after acceptance and it was no big deal. It just maybe your status as a transfer rather than a freshman that might be causing the problem here.
