My GPA is a 3.08 after freshman year.. I want to transfer, but it is so low that even with fall semester classes next year it will be a 3.32... how bad is this? Is it at all possible to transfer to a DECENT school with this GPA?

Clarify your definition of decent. If you are looking at Top 20 schools, a 3.22 is unlikely to gain you admission.

Good Liberal Arts schools that have high transfer acceptance rates.

First, instead of creating new threads about the same topic, please bump your thread or add new information to it.

Second, good and decent are relative terms, it would help to know your current school (although I think I can guess).

Third, unfortunately your OK performance at a school that you think you’re too good for is likely going to prevent you from transferring ‘up’ to an higher ranked school. Think about it from the transfer school’s POV, if an applicant is coming from a less competitive school, don’t you think they’d expect a high gpa?

Fourth, you’re asking for a big package: better school that takes lots of transfers and gives good FA.

Thanks for the reply, entomom, however you did not answer my question.

Also, I’m afraid I don’t like what you’re implying. You’re essentially saying that academics at lower USNWR ranked schools are inferior. I’m not looking to transfer to a very high ranked school- that doesn’t mean anything anyway. My point is I am unhappy at my current school because of the environment and poor fin aid and looking for something better, with comparable or better reputation.

I’m bumping this thread.

Cornell, Vanderbilt, and University of Maryland take a lot of transfer students, if that helps.
