My son has six auditions scheduled at NYU and Unifieds this coming weekend. Keeping an eye on the snow!
Does anyone know how many walk-ins seem like a doable number? I have 4 auditions scheduled for NYC unifieds, but was also planning on doing Chicago for 5 schools, but if it’s doable I’d rather just get them all done as walk-ins at NYC unifieds. Does anyone from last year have any advice?
My daughter will be there for multiple days - we live pretty close and will be taking the train, then overnighting. There has been not a bit of snow aside from some flurries this entire winter, which is highly unusual. Snow we can cope with though – I’m saving up my favors for daughter staying healthy through Sunday and wish you all the same.
This weather system apparently has the potential to become a major storm. The two students I know who are attending NY Unifieds and doing other auditions in NYC have decided to arrive early. The NY airports do not cope well with storms and the usual delays there become much worse. Get there early!
I see some dance calls are at the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. Is this walkable?
Yes, @MTmom725, it’s about two blocks away from Palmer House.
After reading the Chicago Unifieds Debrief thread from last year I called the Palmer House and changed our room to the Executive Floor. Thanks to all the posters who shared their experiences! I feel less stressed already knowing that breakfast and beverages are covered.
Does anyone know what day/time the dance call for CCM is at Chicago Unifieds?
@MTnSWVA, my son’s dance call is 9.00 am on Monday, Not sure about any other dance calls for other days. Check your application status at CCM
@claire74 my daughter’s dance call is at 9 am on Monday in Chicago. I guess they are running two back to back…
@crc500, so we’re both at 9 am (not back to back)
Nice! for some reason I thought it said 8- too many #'s in my head…See you there!
Just FYI - the dance calls at Unifieds (and on campus) are done with many, many, students. Dozens in the room at once. Y’all have the same dance call times…Your child is not dancing alone. (And at one school, they had about 40 kids, with no numbers or identifying features, and no HSs at the table, which made us think the dance call was pretty meaningless). Edit: there are a few schools where they would have the auditioner do a few steps in the room, but most dance calls are with many kids.
does anyone know if Broadway Dreams will be at unifieds? I know in previous years they have been.
Just wondering… does anyone know if schools who participate in the Unifieds, either NY or Chicago mostly wait until late march or beginning of April to notify? Or are there schools who will start notifying kids in the next few weeks?
I have heard that some kids get acceptances on the spot but I’m not referring to those lucky ones.
I’m wondering if there is to be any news or is it just the long winter wait until all unifieds/on campuses are finished.
In past years, Ithaca has tended to release nos pretty quickly after auditions. CCM also gave out info rather quickly (late February early March)
In past years, Ithaca has started releasing a few yes’s the first week in February (my D got hers February 5th). Also, check your MyIthaca account…in past years, when the account is disabled, your “no” letter was in the mail. Not sure if they still do that (you can also tell if you are accepted that way…they used to stamp a big “Accepted!” across your picture on MyIthaca…), but it may be worth checking.
I know several who received their CCM “No” the same week they auditioned. I also think Texas State will let you know yes or “hold on” early after auditioning.
CCM is definitely one of the more “timely” schools. Last year, D received email saying she was on Hold until after LA Unifieds were complete just a couple of days after her audition. She got her acceptance the same week LA Unifieds were over. We were happily surprised!
Won’t Texas State give a clear no if they are going to give a yes or hold on? Or should you assume after 3 weeks of not hearing that it was a no?
