Unified Auditions

Hi, reading some old posts here and curious to whether Penn State did callbacks at Unifieds. I haven’t heard of anyone who was called back into the room…

In LA the call back was a dance audition later in the afternoon.

For Chicago I don’t think there was a callback. Everyone danced then did their song and monologues, no interview. But that’s just what I’m hearing!

We know someone (at Chicago unifieds) who was asked to wait until the other auditions in her group were complete. They brought her back into the room…asked for another song, interviewed her, then she had an opportunity to ask a few questions. Not sure if that was a unique experience, or if they were just particularly discreet with call backs?

I auditioned for PSU at the Chicago Unifieds. There weren’t exactly “callbacks”. All auditionees had an assigned session (I was morning) and we all did the dance call for about an hour. It was ballet and a musical theatre combination. Then, the first 3 people or so were given their order. I asked for mine and ended up being towards the beginning. When I went in the room, I did my two songs, monologue, and was also asked to explain my dance training. Then I went on my way. It is possible though that people received interviews, as mentioned by @deelight . I heard from a girl who had auditioned the previous day that they had told a boy to wait until the end of auditions and then interviewed him. So no there weren’t formal callbacks, but I think they interviewed the people that they were further interested in.

The Penn State Callback procedure was different at Chicago Unifieds than it was on campus. Current students confirmed that there is no music theory component of the callback at off-campus auditions, as there is on campus. For my audition (and for several of my friends), after I finished my songs and monologue, professor Simpkins asked me to pull up a chair and asked me a couple questions. I hope this helps!

How/when is everyone being notified?

Has anyone heard yet?

I checked D’s portal a few days ago - and the anticipated NO was there. This was the one bad audition experience my daughter had. I think the wording on the portal says something like, “…the talent portion…does not meet our standards.” We had a little chuckle over this one because of everything that happened. Good luck to all still waiting for an answer!

My S’s portal finally updated this morning.
