Unifieds 2015

I grew up near Greeley, CO and believe me people from UNC can not in good conscience call Chicago a barren tundra. Just heard this was the 6th worst blizzard in Chicago history, and now NYC is getting hit. MTs in this country’s top markets need to own warm mittens.

Break a leg everyone, but not on the ice!!

My son’s helping out at CCPA auditions. Say hi to the tall goofy looking kid still talking about the super bowl.

Ummmm are there 2 Millers Pubs?? I just asked my waitress about the brownies, she said “we don’t have brownies”. Or are they so good she was keeping them to herself ? Hmmm. The Lamb and French Bread Au Jus was incredible. I would venture to say this pub is a place for sandwiches and drinks, not shmancy steak dinners Eco.

I think it’s the brownies at Palmer House that are 2 die 4.

CCM audition went amazing!! Felt better than I have about any other school. I did my best and even if I don’t get in, that’s all that matters.

Excellent attitude @SondheimLover‌, that’s really all you can do isn’t it?

I suggest moving Chicago unifieds to Austin. We’re pretty darn friendly here, and we don’t have blizzards.

D got a Penn State walk in
Does anyone know if they have accompanist? Thanks

@winnieroot they had an accompanist at NY unifieds, not sure about Chicago.

If anyone sees a 6’2" puppy dog of a guy with dark hair and slight beard looking lost tomorrow, can you offer him some help? S is on his own for two morning auditions because CrashCourseDad has to put in a half day’s work. I think he’ll be OK but a mom’s gotta worry. I should add he’ll be at CCM and UArts.

@niknak520‌ - weather has made walkins unique this year. Many of the programs have walkins that typically may.not, because people haven’t been able to get her because of the weather. Faculty has had a tough time getting here too, but everyone is trying to work together to make it all happen. One school actually ran the dance call for another school last night while that school watched via Skype. If you want to audition for a program - check with them in the mornings, many are doing walkins. I’ve heard BoCo say you can only audition if you have already applied (I think the application due date has passed - so you would have had to previously). I’ve heard U of M isn’t taking walkins, because you had to be academically prescreened. Anyone else, I would check with their location. The people working checkin at every single school we have encountered have been very friendly and helpful.

CMU is also saying you cannot walk in unless you have applied

Will be at CCM today and will make friends
D also has Penn State and Montclair state today.
BAL everyone!

Hey Folks, I know schedules are tight; I did meet a couple people already. Went to the Den Theatre last night with some others, awesome time! But we’re running out of time so I’m throwing out the INVITE. We have a dance call that ends at 6:30 tonight. but after…

We plan on going to the skydeck at the Sears (Willis?) Tower tonight. Leaving the Palmer around 7pm.
Afterwards going back to Millers Pub; maybe 8:30 for a late dinner.
We’ll be in the street level Starbucks in the Palmer about 6:45-7:00pm.
All are welcome!

Look at you, @pghmusician‌, being a host with the most! Sounds fun. Wish I was there (okay, not really since blizzard and auditions but the sentiment is still there).

Service Announcement - Don’t do this:

I was working on my computer out and about in the Palmer House while my S was auditioning. I was sitting near a small group of students / auditionees at the Palmer House who appeared to be decompressing from one or more auditions. They proceeded to talk about the auditions and made fun of how some people were dressed, said a few choice words, and just didn’t seem very nice. [They did look great though:)] They are likely just typical teens blowing off some stress. To add to the mix, a parent joined them after a bit and said some negative things about the staff at the Palmer House. That’s when I decided to leave.

The problem . . . They were sitting next to 2 auditors. I’m not sure which schools, but before the students sat down, the auditors had been discussing auditions generally. They stopped discussing auditions when the students sat near them.

Caveat - I tried not to eaves drop, so I may not have had the context wrong for either conversation.

Manned-up early this morning and walked the cold blocks to Do-Rite donuts. Definitely worth it. The carrot cake donut was my favorite (not that I ate more than one…)

@echowits I posted this blog that was shared on FB on another thread, but these reminders come at a good time, especially in regard to your post.

I bet there are a dozen “I blew that auditon but got in” threads. Wish someone would bump one up :((

Maybe not threads, @winnieroot‌, but every year there are tales of people thinking they blew the audition and got in. My daughter thought that of the place she attends now. We are our own worst critics. When the audition is over, it’s over, shake it off, try hard not to second guess and move onto the next.
