How many uniforms are plebes issued? Is PT gear just a t-shirt and shorts? what should you wear to indoc?

You should get some information from the school that details exactly what you need to bring (and not bring).

Bmeyers...upon acceptance of your appointment you will receive a "logging" book that details everything you need to do before Indoc, plus what to bring, etc. By the time Indoc rolls around that book will be dog-earred!

Candidates arrive wearing a collared shirt and khaki style pants, shirt tucked in. I think a belt too.

Bmeyers.... I am so sorry for the omission....CONGRATULATIONS :)

Bmeyers - Big Congrats! Just adding to the comments. Yep, you should wear the collared shirt and khaki style pants, shirt tucked in plus the belt. AND make sure your top button on your shirt is buttoned. You will be issued PT gear which is t-shirts, shorts, sweat suit and a wind suit and tennis shoes.

The uniforms issued you will vary during the year depending on the season. The uniforms worn daily to class & such are called UOD (uniform of the day) usually khakis during summer and a black uniform, called winter blues. In the summer, for official occasions and travel away from the academy, you'll wear summer whites. During the winter, SDB (service dress blues). You won't be allowed to keep civilian clothes until later. Hope that helped with your questions!

Plus make sure you bring plenty of titey-wities...HA HA HA!

Don't wear anything to stand out.

Here are a couple of good links for stuff to know. They say its for parents, but its really stuff you should know going in as well.

"AND make sure your top button on your shirt is buttoned."

Wear a short sleeve collared shirt with a top button that is very loose. They'll make you button it so you might as well be comfortable. I wore shorts the first day....to be honest it doesn't really matter what you wear the first day, you change as soon as you get to your room anyway. You could probably show up in tshirt and shorts and not have too much of a problem, but i'm not recommending that.

Now that Boss has brought it up. Uh yea. Bring tighty whities BUT it was found out from experience that you're better off to have good old mom/dad send you some under armor (white) boxers for running in that NY heat. The rashes can be wicked without wicking in other words...
