Unit cap for a humanities major transfer? Please help

Hi everyone, I have a pretty interesting situation and I’d just like to ask for everyone’s advice on this issue. I’m honestly so confused regarding the whole thing. I posted this thread in UC transfers, but I feel like the pre-med board would be a better area to get answers to this question.

My question is regarding to transfer credits for my major. I will be applying as a sociology major to the UC system this coming application cycle. My question is in regards to transfer credits. In some threads I read that my med school pre-req credits wouldn’t be accepted because they couldn’t be applied to my major? As a sociology major there are only 3-4 (depending on the UC) pre-requisite classes to take besides fulfilling the IGETC. By completing these classes I would still be short around 15 units. I planned to start and finish my chemistry and physics series while at CC. When I transfer I plan on completing my bio and ochem series. My question is, will my credits really not count for transferring as a sociology major? Essentially, would I take these classes for no reason and only have to retake them at the UC so they count? And also, if I go over the 60 unit requirement due to my physics/chem class will I have to retake that class at a UC because it won’t transfer? I am so confused about this now. I thought there was a limit on transfer credit for major related classes, or too many units. I’m only planning to hit a bit above 60 and finish those two pre-requisites. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

It won’t. The people who post on the UC board will have a much better understanding of how transfer policies at UC work than a Brown university alumnus, the mother of a Miami of Ohio alumna, the father of UT alumni, etc.
