Transferring and Prereqs

Hey there, just wanted to clear something up about prereqs. I was a student who was rescinded by all the UC's so I'm now taking the community college route. I have about 24 units in AP credit in Lit and Comp, US History, Spanish Lang and Lit, Statistics, and Human Geography, all which go towards IGETC. Apparently, I only need 60 units to transfer to a UC. Now, my question is that do I really need to complete ALL the prerequisites if I want to transfer into my intended major of Microbiology? Here are the lower division requirements: BILD 1 & 3, Mathematics 10A, B, 11/10C or 20A, B, C Chemistry 6A, B, C, and 6BL Physics 1A+1AL, 1B+1BL, 1C+1CL or 2A, B, C and one lab (2BL, 2CL, 2DL).

Now, if I had to complete all these prereqs, it would be impossible for me to finish within 2 years, and might even have to go into one semester in a fourth year, since there's the requirements of IGETC that you have to meet before transferring as well.

My classes this semester are as follows:
Principles of Macroeconomics
Political Science
Calculus
History of Classical Music
English 2 (Trying to crash)

Only one class is a prereq, all the others are general ed for IGETC, and I would still need to take one or two more classes to complete IGETC.

Tl;dr: I have 24 units with AP credit, and apparently you only need 60, but with prereqs and IGETC requirements combined, would be close to about 100+ units. Do transfer students need to complete ALL the prereqs before transferring? I was hoping to transfer out within a year with summer school, due to the AP credit. If I do have to complete all of them, then I'll probably have to stick around for another year or two, maybe even a 4th year in second semester because some of my prereqs are only offered in spring, and I have to take one before I can take the next level.

Someone, PLEASE help me. I'm freaking out, how is someone supposed to do this in two years? I thought those 24 units would let me transfer within a year, apparently not, looks like I'm stuck for 3+ years, even with the AP credit...

No you don’t.

Here’s what you do:
Go to your community college counseling office and tell them you have AP credits. They’ll ask for your AP scores/transcripts/etc. Get the OFFICIAL transcripts turned in and then get them “evaluated” at the counseling office. They will load your transcript with the credit. Your high school quarter units will be converted to community college units as, I believe divided by 1.5. So you will get 2.66 units per. You’ll get 16 total units from your 24 high school AP units, which is fair. That’s a semester’s worth of 4 classes. But more importantly, you will get your requirements cleared. You’ll only need one more writing class, and the rest of IGETC.

And you’re not stuck for “3+” years. UCSD doesn’t require you to finish your prerequisites to transfer. You’re only required to maintain the GPA above a 3.5. So take the pre-requisites you can, but finish IGETC as soon as possible.

I transferred to UCSD as an engineering major with only ONE calculus class and a preparation for general chemistry done. Which is a HELL of a lot of classes shy of having full calculus, differential equations, general chemistry, organic chemistry and physics A-C done. I finished IGETC as soon as possible and applied with a 3.9.
