As the commonapp is open, we can start to prepare the essay and supplements. I think only submitting the commonapp and supplement through commonapp.org would be fine for most schools, but I find that WUSTL requires applicants to register in the WUSTL Pathway to track application process. So are there any other universities that require such independent portals?</p>

<p>All that commonapp.org can tell you is whether the school has or has not downloaded your common app & supplements.</p>
<p>The schools’ portals tell you more - have your standardized test scores, recommendations, etc., been received? Are you missing anything? Where in the reading process is your application? Some will even post your results.</p>
<p>Almost every school to which you apply will have a portal of this nature.</p>
<p>Every school has their own portal to track application, send in/update things, and find out admissions decision.</p>
