Universities with a high percentage of Diversity

I hope I worded that right.

Whenever students ask about “diversity” on a particular campus, they usually are asking if the campus has “students like them”.

Why don’t you tell us what ethnic group you belong to, and we’ll name schools that might appeal to you.

What exactly do you mean by “high percentage in the Diverse rate”?

@mom2collegekids @ucbalumnus oh I’m sorry! I’m African and I was wondering if there are universities who have lots of kids like me (I don’t really know how to describe it) I guess with different backgrounds

@Ilovepizza19 Yes, google historically black colleges.

@ben69420 African American and African students don’t always identify strongly with each other.

@Ilovepizza19 Here is a list of schools with high percentages of international students.

International student in or from some country in Africa (which itself is genetically and culturally diverse)?
Immigrant with US citizenship or permanent residency from some country in Africa?
African American born and raised in the US?

Here is a list with an ethnic diversity index

Generally larger schools and schools located in cities will have pretty diverse group of students. Public schools may also fit the bill, although they might not be as geographically diverse

Are you female? Mount Holyoke has a nice diverse community with quite a few international students. Dickinson and Macalester do, too (and are co-ed).

Just wondering

@ucbalumnus I’m an African American born and raised in the US

Ok…so you’re born in Africa, but moved here while young, so raised in the US.

Are you a rising sophomore in high school?

If there are specific schools you are already interested in, you can google the Common Data Set for that school and there is a section in that document, prepared by am schools every year, which identifies numbers and percentages in entering class and in entire student body, of students who are African American, Hispanic, multi racial or international.

Sites like Collegedata.com and College Navigator should let you easily find how many African American students each college has.

Finding students of specific national or ethnic origin among international students and African American students of recent immigrant heritage may be more difficult.

@mom2collegekids yes, I’m a sophomore

@ucbalumnus @Midwestmomofboys @intparent @shawnspencer @nw2this @ben69420 @mom2collegekids Thank you so much for the help
