<p>I am sure it was a difficult decision, but one neither your son nor your family will regret.</p>
<p>We found Clemson and FSU pretty similar. The feel and atmosphere of the two universities are very comparable. Clemson has a much smaller student population and is a less urban environment. The cost differential between an in-state school with Bright Futures advantages and an out-of-state school (even with an OOS waiver) is hard to ignore. </p>
<p>UF was only seriously considered due to the ever-present “ratings” discussion. In the end, the ratings didn’t sway us when all factors were considered. FSU felt like home, UF didn’t.</p>
<p>UM wasn’t ever a serious contender. A less than ideal location was ultimately too much to overcome.</p>
<p>FSU is just the right fit and I fully expect my DS to have the time of his life there.</p>
<p>I understand the out-of-state tuition issue. We helped our D1 interview at a number of out-of-state med schools in the eastern U.S., each a hideous tuition expense that did not include living expenses. We were extremely glad she decided FSU Med was for her.</p>
<p>The difference was on the order of $50+K/year OOS vs $18K/year in-state. No contest; especially since FSU med is doing an exemplary job training new docs.</p>
