Here is the text of the email that Bucknell sent out today:
subject line: Long time, no talk…Are you still interested?
Dear ___,
It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with you, so we’re writing to see if you still want to keep your application open at Bucknell.
No worries if you’ve been accepted Early Decision elsewhere or you’re no longer interested in being considered for Bucknell’s Class of 2021. If you are no longer interested, please go to your applicant status page and withdraw your application.
If you are interested in Bucknell, please let us know by clicking this link. It’s also a good time to make sure you can access your applicant status page and take one last look at your checklist, just to verify that your application is complete. (If you’ve applied for financial aid, the checklist will tell you if we have the necessary information.)
We’ll be notifying you of our decision on March 29 on your applicant status page, so you’ll want to make sure you can access it.
Thanks so much for your help. We look forward to hearing from you!
Robert G. Springall
Dean of Admissions
- Imho, the tone of that email is borderline insulting. Bob, we will give you a mulligan on this one. Redraft it, take out the condescending tone, and send it out again. Only this time put a box on the reply screen so the student can give you a couple sentences on why they want to attend the school. You might actually find out what you most wanted to know!
