Email from Northeastern

Got an email today from Northeastern asking if I was planning on withdrawing my application if I got in elsewhere.

Never heard from my friends of a college that asks about potential withdrawals because it has so many applicants.

2 Questions:
Anybody else get this?
How many people applied to NE this year? cause it seems like A LOT of people did

According to another poster here on CC it was 62,00 applications total, a 15% increase from last ear.

That might be good news! We got that email in December and were accepted early action. I didn’t post about it when we received it, but it makes sense that they sent it out to try to protect yield. Take it as a great sign! I never saw anyone else mention it and didn’t want to start a post about it when we received it in December but secretly saw it as an indication we would be seeing an acceptanc.

Oops!

I also received this email… I thought it could be a bad sign, like they don’t even want to spend time looking at our applications??

@xxddcc No, it is a way of eliminating applicants who have already committed to another school and may just be keeping their application active out of curiosity to see if hey are accepted.

My son got the email too. For the $75 application fee, they can review his application even if he did decide to go somewhere else (he hasn’t but you get my point).
