Does anyone know when the invitations usually go out for this weekend? The deadline for fellowship applications was today. Can somone explain how the decision process works? I know there is a interview weekend but after that weekend do they make another cut and have more interviews? Do they notify the students who did not get selected in the spring or later?

I don't remember exactly when the invitations for the Fellows weekend were received, but it had to be by mid-January because the weekend took place during the President's Day holiday weekend. I can't say for sure if the University informs the candidates who were not selected for interviews, but my guess is that they do send a "thanks for applying, but..." letter. My family's experience during the first year is that the candidates were chosen after the one interview weekend, but as the program has evolved, who knows? My daughter was informed in the spring that she was selected as a Fellow. The Fellows weekend for us was all expenses paid (2 nights in a local hotel), a reception for candidates and parents at the President's mansion, a meal and entertainment for the students, tours, etc. It was very impressive and conveyed that the University was committed to attracting these students to UA. It has been a wonderful experience.
