University of Arizona

OK, I asked about Arizona's program before. I've read all the threads, particularly those under the MT section of CC. My S has decided against applying to NCARTS. He wants to attend a program connected to a college/University. He applied to an adequate number of 'safer' and 'safe' schools, BFA and BA. We are looking for another 'reach'. The options are DePaul and the University of Arizona. Logistics prohibit applying to both programs. DePaul requires a full 4 hour audition at the Chicago Unifieds, which means that it is real hard finding a reasonable time scheduling other auditions. We would have to fly to Tuscon or Las Vegas (2/9) to audition at Arizona. But my question has less to do with logistics, as it does the most recent cutting practices at Arizona.
Is anybody applying to Arizona. There have been no postings on the MT threads about cutting practices since the cutting issue was discussed in the Spring of 2006. I was wondering whether the freshman class in the Spring of 2007 felt better about the process.
Obviously, both programs cut, and I am guessing that DePaul cuts a higher percentage of students. I have discussed with my son what we would do if cut, whatever program he ends up in. There are options, including transferring to a program used to taking kids from programs that cut, staying at the school to pursue a BA degree, or transferring to the college that I work at. Last week, a CCer sent me a private note about what students at DePaul do in anticipation of being cut. I do not want to report it here, but the impact that the anticipation has on the students seems to be substantial.
From what I can tell, DePaul graduates do very well. If you make it through the intensive program, doors open. We like what we read on their web site; their training philosophy, etc. DePaul is a tuition exchange school for us (no tuition), but they only grant about 30% of accepted students tuition exchange. Arizona is very affordable, even for nonresidents. My impression is that Arizona adheres to a more classical approach to teaching and evaluates students according to their ability to act different styles.
Well, this is getting long. Any insight into this comparison would be helpful.

I posted a similar question (UA only) on the MT ( under University of Arizona) thread.
