University of California med schools?

Something I'm curious about: I know UC medical schools offer free tuition (minus the required fees) to California residents. I also know UC's prefer in-state applicants for undergrad. Are UC medical schools easier to get into for California residents than for out-of-state, or is that not a factor for med school admissions like it is for undergrad?

Thanks,

Required fees typically amount to like $25,000 a year. So tuition is "free."

UC medical schools, with the exception of Los Angeles, explicitly favor in-state applicants. Some more than others: UCSF is on the low end of this spectrum, probably. It is still very difficult.
