lucky bastage...

I haven't started on essays

Dhl is in for sure..God I wish I had TAP..my cc doesnt offer it. im in the same boat as a couple of you cuz i have not completed my essays...ive had so many midterms/assignments lately that i just have not had time! im trying for completion by next week for sure!!

thnx for the encouragement, but I can't be too sure. my current GPA is still below the average gpa for my major (business econ - 3.81), and if I mess up this semester, it'll be the 3.6 range, which will not help my situation at all.

but I'm pretty optimistic about my stat. I mean, I also have PAIF with Irvine (guaranteed admission), so if the worst comes (rejected by Berkeley, UCLA, AND San Diego), then at least I have Irvine waiting for me :)

anyway, cmon guys~ for those of you who doesn't have TAP, at least turn your application early so you can improve your chance. Never underestimate the power of turning in your application early. I learned my lesson the hard way when I was a senior, so I turned my UC application in the moment my computer clock hit "12:00 AM" on Nov. 1. At least I know for sure that I don't have to go through the same nightmare I had to go through 2 years ago :)

Good Luck everyone!

does anyone know if a campus know which other campuses you apply to?

well, i dun think any one here knows about it for sure since no one works in UC adcom.

but why would that matter?

In my opinion, i dont see any correlation to the time you turn in your app and your chances for admissions. it really doesnt make sense... but thats my own opinion....i think if this was really a way to enhance your chances then more people would know about it and some rep from one of the UC's would leak this "trick" out........i think what sweetny said makes much more sense but whatev

Many people DO know about it.

really? crap.
i'm applying from a 4 yr and maybe i shoulda planned this better, but i am so...incredibly stressed out right now with schoolwork... writing the essays.
i know i shouldn't wait till the last day, but does anybody have something to say that will make me feel less guilty for not turning it in in the first week..?

Also I don't know if this has been asked before, but say I want to apply to two different UCs under different majors bc one of them don't offer the specific major that I want.
How would I answer the first essay question then?

wow DHL! Your chances seem great. I'm not worried about you at all. I, however, am worried with a 3.4 GPA with TAP and IGETC certification. The thing that gives me hope is I will have ALL prerequisites for a Biology major. My essays are ok, but I think I'll wait to submit until mid November.

just wondering.............who here agrees with the idea that if you turn in your app early it enhances your chances??????? gracias

kevin, what major?

At my community college, our honors counselor said that all students that have completed the honors program/TAP, and have applied for UCLA, have all been accepted to it. I think it is true, because not just anybody can be enrolled in the honors program and not everyone can finish it. I'm sure when you do the agreement, UCLA sees that you really want in. I don't know about CAL though. I'm estimating i will have a 3.3-3.4 GPA with TAp when i'm done, and for the major i want, history, the average admit is 3.49, i'm assuming that is without TAP. So i'm beginning to be very optimistic about my chances to "UCK-LA."

tonyage - I'm applying as a life science major. I will have more prereqs than the average applicant, that's for sure.

for the lettergrade dropdown on the online application theres a selections AR (academic renewal). i retook a calc class this summer(that i failed in spring 06) and im not sure on which class to put the AR onto. do i put it on the failed grade and put an actual letter grade on the retake?

it's 91 per cent of tap is admitted to ucla, at least for my school. dhl3, what do u mean by bettering ur chances by turning in ur application early. do uc's really favour those that submit their application early? i was planning on completing my application by the 14th. anyway, when do u send transcripts to the schools? i wish there were more people who are transferring in one year; i know no one that shares my situation.

yeah we're in the 90's too. i hope im not that 10% :[

hey all! i am new to this thread so if i ask a repeat question just let me know. I will be applying to the uc's this year also. i was breezing through the thread and i saw read one about the uc's looking disfavorably on students who don't complete their General Education in the usual two years. I am unfortunately one of those students. I attended an out of state college immediately after high school and didn't do well. I wanted to know which uc's i whould be looking at with my stats.

major: urban studies
prereqs- done by fall
GPA: 3.55 overall (3.87 at my CC and 2.4 at Univ. of Colorado)
Applying(in order of preference): CAL, san diego, santa barbara, irvine, davis, los angeles, santa cruz, riverside, merced
current E.C.'s-

It's one thing to think you're well informed, it's another thing to try to pass off false information as common knowledge.

In any case, when you turn in your application has no bearing on your admission.

When my husband was applying as a freshman he turned in his application on the last possible day and he was accepted to every one of the UC's. As cardinal said when you turn in your application (assuming it is before the deadline)will have no bearing on their decision. It might change when you receive your decision so maybe you will find out a week later than you otherwise would. Honestly they don't look at the exact time each one was turned in and make sure they go in order. I am sure they just devy them up as they come in.

DHL- Didn't you claim on another thread that you are friends with a Harvard admissions counselor and they explained their point system to you?
